Which is faster for losing weight, dancing or running?

It is very common for people to become obese due to some reasons in their lives. The vast majority of causes of obesity are due to disordered daily eating habits. Many people will seek ways to lose weight after they become obese, and most people choose running to lose weight, while some people choose dancing to lose weight. So, which one is faster for losing weight, dancing or running?

First, which one is faster for losing weight, dancing or running? Dr. Smith and his team conducted a follow-up study on a group of students aged 24 to 38. Fifteen of the students, all from City College London, regularly attend a variety of dance classes including ballet, ballroom, contemporary, salsa, hip-hop and swing. Before taking the dance class, each student will wear a sports vest equipped with a heart rate detector; after the class, the research team will also ask each student to evaluate their own mental state. In collecting data on these students, Dr. Smidon found that students taking modern, hip-hop and swing dance classes burned far more calories in a 30-minute class than they would in a 30-minute run, swim or bike ride. After a 30-minute dance class, they burned 293 calories, which is more than running (264 calories), playing football (258 calories) and swimming (249 calories) for the same period of time. It can be seen that in the same amount of time, dancing consumes more calories than running, swimming and cycling.

Second, the research team also included the students' age, weight and physical condition in the evaluation system, and the result was: dancing requires a lot of exercise. In tracking the heart rates of these dance students, they found that every student had a period of intense heartbeat in every dance class, even ballet, which has always been considered elegant. Dr. Smithden said: "In addition to the fact that dancing requires a lot of exercise, as can be seen from the heart rate, we also tracked and measured the running distances of these dancers. The most were the street dancers, who ran a full 3.6 kilometers in just half an hour of class. Even modern dancers and ballet dancers ran 1.6 kilometers and 1.2 kilometers respectively. Just from these running distances and their bodies constantly jumping in the air, it can be seen that the amount of exercise required for dancing is definitely not small."

Which is faster for losing weight, dancing or running? Dancing involves a lot of exercise and burns a lot of calories, making it very suitable for losing weight. In addition, dancing has many benefits. From the perspective of modern medicine, dancing, a rhythmic whole-body exercise, is beneficial to restoring and balancing the body's biological rhythms, helping myocardial contraction, promoting blood circulation, and delaying cell aging. In addition, regular dancing can eliminate fatigue, remove negative emotions, protect the waist, etc. For many people who want to lose weight but don't like going to the gym or outdoor exercise, dancing to lose weight is a good choice.
