What shoes are best for skipping rope?

As a whole-body exercise, skipping rope is a good weight loss exercise and an effective way to exercise cardiopulmonary capacity. People who love sports know that no matter what kind of sport, the choice of shoes is very important. It not only affects whether our feet are comfortable, but also directly affects the protection of our joints. The impact of skipping rope on the knees cannot be underestimated. How can we choose shoes to minimize the impact?

1. Shock Absorption

Cushioning is one of the most basic functions of a pair of shoes. Every time you jump and land, your knees are put under seven times more pressure than usual. So when trying on shoes, don't forget to feel whether the sole is soft. A pair of shoes that only looks good but cannot provide sufficient protection is definitely not suitable for playing ball.

2. Ground contact and ankle protection

These two items are discussed together because they both involve the same aspect, protection of the ankle. Ankle protection refers to whether the shoe upper can provide sufficient protection for the ankle. Obviously, high-top shoes provide much better ankle support than low-top shoes. In addition, the material of the upper should be thick and soft, not too thin or too hard, otherwise it may easily cause sprains. Ground contact refers to the height of the shoe upper from the ground. In theory, the farther the foot is from the ground, the greater the chance of spraining the ankle. However, ground adhesion and ankle protection are a double-edged sword. If the sole is made thin, the height from the ground will be low, but it may not provide good shock absorption. Adding layers of protection to the ankle will limit flexibility.

3. Fit with the foot

That is, whether the shoe fits the foot well and whether the foot slides in the shoe during exercise. When trying on shoes, be sure not to buy a size that is too large or too small. If the size is right, check whether the heel slips in the shoe, whether the forefoot is too narrow or too wide, and whether there is a sense of squeeze and discomfort in the arch of the foot. If everything is good, it means that the shoe is a good fit.

From this we can see that a good pair of shoes does not have to look cool or be expensive, but it must fit your feet. In addition, since you will sweat during exercise, you should also choose shoes that are relatively more breathable. Avoid skipping rope while wearing leather shoes, boots, high heels or other shoes that are not suitable for sports. Doing so will do more harm than good to your body in the long run.
