How to skate backwards with roller skates

Keep your weight on your left foot, bend your knees slightly, and point your left toes forward. The right foot is diagonally behind the left heel, with the right toe pointing at a forty-five degree angle. The distance between your feet should be about the length of a skate. Push your right foot hard behind your left foot. After walking backwards, quickly return your right foot to the original position and repeat the slide. You can quickly master it through repeated practice.

(1) Backward hoist slide

Stand parallel to each other with your feet slightly apart. Start with your toes slightly pointed inward, bend your legs, and push the ground forward with the inner edges of your feet. At the same time, spread your heels apart. When you slide backward and outward to the maximum arc (feet slightly wider than shoulders), bring your heels together, straighten your knees, return to the starting position, and repeat the sliding action. This way you can slide backward continuously.

Practice Method

1 With the help of a partner who is facing each other and holding hands, experience the coordinated movements of pushing the ground with both feet and twisting the ankles.

2 Stand with your feet parallel, arms at your sides, upper body slightly leaning forward, and do a small backward gourd slide. Then gradually increase the amplitude and sliding speed.

(2) Snake-like backward sliding

Start by standing with your feet about one foot apart, legs bent, toes turned slightly inward. Use the inner edge of your right foot to push off the ground, shift your body's center of gravity to the left, and slide backward with your left foot. Stretch your right leg in front of you and then place your right foot on the side of your left foot to return to the starting position. Then push off the ground with your left foot, shift your body's center of gravity to the right, and slide backward with your right foot. Extend your left leg in front of you and place your left foot next to your right foot. Then repeat the above movements in sequence. When doing the serpentine backward slide, pay attention to keeping the upper body slightly leaning forward at all times, keep both knees bent, and raise both hands to the sides of the body.

Practice Method

1 After completing the backward gourd slide and gaining a certain speed, you can perform a snake-like backward slide according to the above movements.

2 After pushing off the ground with each foot and sliding once, rely on the inertia of sliding to stand with both feet parallel and slide once, maintaining the correct body sliding posture and practice repeatedly. Double row backslide technique
