1. Roller skating

When it comes to age, roller skating can be considered the “grandpa” of extreme sports. Roller skating is a transition from ice skating. According to relevant records, in the 18th century, a Dutch ice skater tried to install wooden reels under his leather shoes and skate on flat ground in order to continue training in the non-icing season. His experiment was finally successful after continuous failures and improvements, creating the history of "skating" with roller shoes. Since then, roller skating was born, emerged and developed rapidly in Europe.

In 1860, Joseph Merlin, a Belgian musical instrument maker, made a pair of roller skates by hand. However, when he brought his masterpiece to the World Expo in London, England and showed it to the enthusiastic London audience, an accident occurred: he broke a large mirror because he could not brake and was injured. After this incident was reported by the media, it caused a huge shock among people. Therefore, roller skating was regarded as a "dangerous sport" and was neglected for quite a long time.

The first pair of true roller skates was invented by James Plimpton of the United States in 1863. His invention promoted the development of roller skating in various countries, and he made a fortune from it.

In 1866, James invested in and opened the first indoor roller skating rink in New York and organized the New York Roller Skating Association, officially including roller skating as an official sports competition for the first time. At the same time, roller skating quickly spread to European countries. Because of its high technical skills and viewing value, after a long period of development, inline skating has become one of the important events in extreme sports street racing. Countless extreme enthusiasts are crazy about it.

2. Skateboarding

Water surfing, fast-paced, exciting and tense, have you ever experienced it? You know, skateboarding is the extension of surfing on land. In the mid-to-late 1950s, residents of beach communities in Southern California invented the world's first skateboard, a 50*10*50CM wooden board fixed to the iron wheels of roller skates. Although this is just a simple sports equipment, it has gradually attracted attention because it can give people the same feeling as surfing.

Since skateboarding is derived from surfing, the skateboarding culture in the 1970s bears the imprint of surfing, and the skateboard parks built by skateboard enthusiasts all simulate surfing terrain. It wasn't until the "Zephyr" skateboard team in Santa Monica, California, abandoned surfing knives and used keyholes as a venue for practicing vertical surface skateboarding for the first time, which sparked a "pool skateboarding fever" across the United States. Since then, skateboarding has begun to separate from surfing and was brought to the streets by enthusiasts, forming its own language, skills, clothing style and music hobbies, which is the Skateboard we see today.
