Some friends recently asked me a question like this: they sweat a lot when practicing yoga. Is it easier to lose weight this way? And is sweating really good for the body? Indeed, we will find that some people do not sweat much no matter how long they practice yoga, while some people feel sweaty after practicing for a while. So, is it good to sweat when practicing yoga? It is not necessarily good to sweat when doing yoga. Sweating only means that the initial practice is more intense for your body. But after a period of training, your flexibility, coordination, strength and other aspects have improved compared to before. So the same intensity of exercise will not feel very strenuous for you now, because your body has adapted to such intensity. If you increase the difficulty and intensity of the movements appropriately, you will still feel sweating as before. If you feel pain in your body after practicing, it depends on whether you have done any of the yoga movements. Most of the yoga movements involve stretching, so it is normal to feel soreness or swelling in the exercised parts after practicing. But if you feel pain in parts that are not under exercise, you should ask your coach to help you check whether you have done the movements correctly, because classes are generally large classes, and except for private lessons, the coach cannot take care of all the students. Maybe some movement coaches saw you, or some movement coaches did not. Also, some yoga movements cannot be done by some people. For example: high blood pressure, heart disease, lumbar strain, herniated disc, etc. When doing some movements, if the above people are not suitable for doing them, the coach will mention it. If you think you have to sweat when practicing yoga, then you don’t understand yoga. Sweating profusely is either a sign of poor physical condition or too much intensity. Doing this for a long time will only do harm and no good. If you practice yoga at room temperature, you generally won't sweat too much, because yoga is a very slow stretching movement, and it requires deep and long breathing. It is not as intense as other sports, so generally speaking you will only sweat slightly. If you sweat a lot, it must be because you feel uncomfortable during the practice, or you feel very painful because of body stiffness, or you don't coordinate your breathing well and have to hold your breath. To learn yoga, you must first understand yoga breathing. Practicing good breathing is crucial to practicing postures. Also, don't force yourself to do movements beyond your ability. Practice difficult movements slowly. You must have perseverance and patience to see progress every day. Is it good to sweat when practicing yoga? Now everyone should know the answer to this question. Indeed, in many cases, too much is as bad as too little. So if you sweat a little when practicing yoga, it does mean that the practice is effective. But if you sweat a lot, it means that the amount of practice may exceed what your body can bear. At this time, you should reduce the amount of exercise. |
