You should know whether we can drink Coke during exercise?

Generally, cola contains caffeine, carbon dioxide and phosphoric acid. Because taking or drinking large amounts of caffeinated drugs or beverages can help athletes reach a highly excited state, thereby improving athletic performance. So, just this year, the World Anti-Doping Agency revealed that any drug or drink containing caffeine will be banned, including cola.

However, the caffeine content in cola is lower. For ordinary people, as long as they don't drink in large quantities, the nerve "excitation" or "inhibition" effects are not particularly obvious.

However, in addition to caffeine, cola also contains carbon dioxide and phosphoric acid. It is these two ingredients that determine that cola cannot be recommended as a drink during exercise.

A sufficient amount of carbon dioxide in the beverage can have a bactericidal and antibacterial effect, and can also take away heat from the body through evaporation, thereby cooling down the body, so when drinking it you will feel "how refreshing it is". But while the carbon dioxide in Coke allows us to enjoy the cool and stimulating taste, it also brings some stimulation to our digestive system. Especially drinking it before exercise may cause gastrointestinal bloating, which may lead to problems such as abdominal pain during exercise.

After a certain amount of exercise, everyone will feel more or less tired and sore. That's because our body produces acidic substances during exercise, and the accumulation of acidic substances can cause physical fatigue. At this time, if you supplement your body with cola containing phosphoric acid, it will increase the degree of fatigue of the body, the acid and alkalinity in the body cannot be neutralized, and fatigue will not be easy to recover.

Experts recommend not drinking cola within at least half an hour before and after exercise. Since the human body loses a large amount of electrolytes during exercise, drinking alkaline beverages containing electrolytes after exercise is the right choice.
