Reasons for sleep talking

Sleep talking is also called somniloquy in medicine. It refers to the phenomenon that people talk in their sleep after falling asleep. Some talk in complete paragraphs, some in just fragments. Some are clearly pronounced, some are unclear, and some can even have conversations with the person they are talking to. People often say that whatever you think about during the day, you dream about at night. That is to say, the content of what people say in their dreams is often related to what they think and experience during the day.

Most people have experienced talking in their sleep. There is no need to worry. Talking in your sleep is a normal physiological phenomenon and does not cause any harm to your body. The reason for talking in sleep is that when people fall asleep, their brains are not completely rested and are even more active at a certain stage. People's sleep is divided into light sleep and deep sleep, and the two stages alternate. People dream during light sleep and their eye movements are very frequent.

Eye movement slows down significantly during deep sleep. It is normal to talk in your sleep occasionally, but if it happens frequently, from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, it means that the person is suffering from excessive liver fire and is mentally stressed. After clearing heat and regulating the body, the phenomenon of talking in sleep will be significantly reduced. People may talk in their sleep when they are under too much work pressure, are too nervous, too tired, or have eaten too much for dinner.

Frequent talking in sleep is often a sign of neurasthenia, so it needs to be taken seriously and attention should be paid to conditioning. You should strengthen your daily physical exercise, which can effectively relieve mental stress. Don't go to bed immediately after work. You can soak your feet in hot water, close your eyes and rest for a while before going to bed. Never do strenuous exercise before going to bed, otherwise it will be difficult to fall asleep quickly.

It is best to drink a glass of milk before going to bed, which can also have a calming effect. You can also add some dietary therapy, such as stewing sea cucumber and pork together in chicken soup, adding dried shrimps, MSG and other seasonings, and eating it twice a day. You can also boil water with lotus seeds, rock sugar and osmanthus and take it every day. This has a good regulating effect on insomnia, restlessness, and waking up easily from sleep talking. In addition, do not drink coffee.
