Five common fitness misunderstandings

I used to think that fitness only required running, so I insisted on going to the playground every day and running two laps. I kept doing this for several years, and I would go every morning when I got up. Little did I know that my exercise method not only had little effect, but was also going further down the wrong path. I used to think that if I wanted to lose weight I just had to not eat, but I didn’t know that this was actually harming my body. Later, a sports expert told me that all my previous assumptions were wrong. In fact, we only have a superficial understanding of sports and there are many misunderstandings. Let’s take a look at some of the most common exercise misconceptions.

Myth 1: Running is the best way to keep fit

There is no best fitness method. Try to choose the sport you like as much as possible. Pursuing the "best" may mean you want to achieve the "fastest" results. Seeking speed is also a misunderstanding of exercise. It takes time and patience to achieve fitness results.

Myth 2: Dieting can help you lose weight

More than 90% of people who lose weight on a diet will gain it back. Dieting only means eating less temporarily, it does not change your eating habits. Exercise to lose weight is based on scientific eating habits, and what can really reduce weight is long-term physical exercise.

Myth 3: Heat can make injuries heal faster

The pain from sports injuries is due to internal bleeding and swelling at the injured area. Hot compresses will only aggravate the bleeding and swelling. The correct treatment is to apply cold compresses (such as ice) within 24 hours of the injury and heat therapy after 24 hours to reduce pain and swelling.

Myth 4: Meat is a good sports food

Meat contains a lot of protein, but is very poor at providing energy quickly. The ideal sports diet is one that is high in sugar. Sugar is the best and most easily utilized energy, and the energy required for exercise is based on the previous day's diet.

Myth 5: The best time to exercise is early in the morning

The best time to exercise is when you feel the urge to exercise and it fits your schedule. Some people like to start with a morning workout, while others find exercise at the end of a work day a great way to re-energize and relax.

Everyone will know in the future not to make these mistakes again. They should also develop good living habits and insist on exercising, so that they can be healthy and happy.
