What are the boxing matches?

Boxing has developed from ancient times to the present day, and has come to people after historical evolution. In daily life, we often see some boxing matches on TV. The excitement of these boxing matches is self-evident. Although we cannot empathize with the nervousness of the contestants, we can cheer for them with all our might. Next, let us learn about what boxing matches are there?

From a historical perspective, boxing can be divided into ancient boxing and modern boxing. If we explain and differentiate from the perspective of sports competition, boxing can be divided into sports competitive boxing and non-sports competitive boxing. Competitive boxing is divided into two types: professional and amateur, and the boxing matches in the Olympics and Asian Games are all amateur competitions.

Boxing is a contest of physical, technical and psychological strength between two athletes through the confrontation of their two fists. The specific form of boxing competition is that two people wear special soft gloves in a square rope-enclosed competition arena and engage in offensive and defensive confrontation according to certain rules and technical requirements. The weapons for attack and defense can only be two fists wearing special gloves, and the targets of attack and defense are limited to the opponent's body parts above the waist and hips. Boxing is called "the art of fighting".

The rules of boxing are unique. The new rules implemented by the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) in 1997 stipulate that amateur boxing matches are conducted in a five-round system; each round is two minutes, with a one-minute rest between rounds; professional boxing matches are generally conducted in a ten to twelve round system, with a one-minute rest between rounds. World Boxing Federation competitions are mainly determined by technical scores. The boxing gloves used are large and thick. During the competition, athletes must wear vests, shorts, soft-soled boxing shoes, and protective helmets. Professional boxing matches are mainly determined by strong attacks or knocking down the opponent. If the knocked-down party cannot stand up and resume the match within ten seconds, the opponent is declared the winner. During the match, professional boxers wear small and thin gloves, and compete with their upper bodies naked and without helmets on their heads. There are eleven weight classes in the World Boxing Federation and seventeen weight classes in professional boxing.

Boxing is also unique because people have different views on the sport. Boxing is a competitive sport between people. Therefore, the hitting and being hit during the game, as well as the resulting injuries, especially the scene of being knocked down and unable to stand up in professional boxing, have caused great objections in many people's minds. This has led many to call for the boxing match to be cancelled.

Because boxing requires powerful explosive muscle power and perfect techniques and tactics, it is one of the most complex competitive sports. Faced with the ever-changing situation on the field during the game, athletes are required to accurately understand the basic situation of the opponent in a very short period of time, and at the same time make corresponding judgments and take corresponding actions quickly, using strong bodies, skilled techniques, and varied tactics to attack and defend. It not only places high demands on the physical and psychological qualities of boxing enthusiasts and boxers, but also has great training value in enhancing the physical and mental health of boxing enthusiasts and boxers. This is the most obvious and outstanding feature of boxing.
