How to do boxing footwork training

Boxing is a combat sport. As it is a strength sport, most of the practitioners and competitors are men. Boxing competitions require formal training before they can compete. Therefore, if you want to learn boxing, you must go to a professional training institution, otherwise it will easily cause injuries. So how should boxing footwork training be done? Let’s take a closer look below!

1. Move left

Start from the basic position, push off the ground with the front of your foot, move your left foot half a step to the left, and then your right foot also moves half a step to the left. Many right-handed boxers find it easy to move to the left because they can throw the jab as they move. In actual combat, when your opponent is a left-handed boxer, moving to the left is also a good method because it allows you to avoid your opponent's powerful left punch.

2. Move right

Start with the basic movement, push off the ground with the front of your left foot, move your right foot half a step back, and then move your left foot half a step to the right. Moving to the right is the same in method as moving to the left, but it is more difficult because you cannot throw a jab as easily. Move to the right to avoid the opponent's right punch, but you can also be easily hit by the opponent's left hook. Learn to move freely in any direction.

3. Move backward

Starting from the basic position, push off the ground with your left foot, step back half a step with your right foot, and then immediately step back half a step with your left foot to return to the basic position. Generally, moving backwards indicates that you are defending. At this time, you can look for opportunities to deliver heavy punches to the opponent's body to reduce the speed of his attacks on you. You can move back and defend well, but don't rely on this move too often, especially when your opponent is a stronger boxer than you. If you do this, you may be pushed to the ropes and knocked down by your opponent.

The above introduces some issues about boxing footwork training. Because this sport requires absolute strength, you must not train and compete on your own. Doing so can easily cause accidental injuries, which will not be worth the effort. In addition, this sport is not suitable for children to learn, so it is best not to let children practice it.
