What should you pay attention to when walking on different roads?

1. Stone pavement

Road surface characteristics: This type of road surface mainly appears on stone cliffs, steep cliffs or stone faults, where the bedrock of the mountain is exposed. It may be formed by a whole stone surface or by multiple stone surfaces. There are also artificially paved stone slabs. Because the road surface is smooth and mossy, it is easy to slip. Once it rains or snows, accidents are likely to happen, resulting in falls and sprains, or serious fractures and injuries.

2. Stone-skipping road

Road surface characteristics: The so-called skipping stones mean there is no obvious road. The so-called "road" is mainly formed by valleys and gullies after long-term rain erosion and mountain torrents. There may be a road but it is surrounded by farmland. When farming, farmers sort out the stones in the ground and throw them out, piling them on the road surface. Over time, the road becomes a road of stones of varying sizes. To walk on this kind of road, you need to jump on the stones to move forward. Fine yarn, streams, and boulders are interspersed, and there are dangers everywhere.

3. Dirt road

Road surface characteristics: This type of road surface is the most common, and its formation is mainly due to the weathering of stones and the long-term trampling of people on the ground without vegetation. Maybe you think this is the best way to go and there is nothing to pay attention to! That is a big mistake. During the rainy season, this kind of road becomes the legendary muddy road, where it is very easy to fall and hurt your knees.

4. Bushes

Road surface characteristics: There are many types of bushes, which can be roughly divided into natural bushes and artificial afforestation bushes. Natural shrubs are mainly distributed in dense jungles. There are many types of shrubs and they are relatively low. The soil is generally slippery and soft, and there may be swamps, which are very dangerous. Artificial afforestation shrubs are mainly distributed on mountain slopes with a relatively dry climate. They are planted artificially for windbreak and soil consolidation. The soil in the area is generally dry and contains more stones and sand. It looks hard but is actually slippery when stepped on.

5. Snow Crossing

Road surface characteristics: Snowy roads are formed by snow accumulation. Due to the snow cover, it is impossible to judge the terrain and road conditions, and the situation will be very complicated. The accumulated snow makes the road slippery, creates great resistance and makes walking inconvenient.

6. Mountain hiking

Road surface characteristics: Mountains are often composed of undulating hills or gullies, with streams, cliffs or woods in between. The road surface is often complicated, and there may be cobblestone roads, mud roads, stepping stones, bushes, etc. in front, which requires the comprehensive application of various hiking techniques.

7. River Crossing

Road surface characteristics: River crossing is a problem that may be encountered during outdoor hiking. Usually we can rely on maps to determine whether there are large rivers in the crossing area. However, in areas with complex terrain, especially large altitude differences and strong river valleys, a seemingly small stream often becomes an obstacle to crossing. In seasons with frequent heavy rains, small streams that originally did not pose a deterrent may become large rivers with flooding. Therefore, when crossing a river, you must carefully choose the crossing point.
