Black spots after strenuous exercise

Black spots after strenuous exercise

We all do exercise regularly. Exercise can not only exercise the body and maintain the figure, but it is also very beneficial to human health. However, everyone should pay attention to moderation when exercising and not overdo it, otherwise it will bring a great burden to the body. After strenuous exercise, many people experience black spots before their eyes. So, what exactly is going on when your eyes go dark after strenuous exercise?

This is mostly caused by drastic changes in breathing and cardiac function during exercise, which leads to changes in blood supply and a transient lack of blood supply to the brain, causing symptoms such as dizziness and black eyes. In severe cases, fainting may occur, which is called exercise-induced syncope.

Possible causes are as follows:

1. Decreased cardiac output:

It is more common in people who lack exercise in their daily life. When they suddenly engage in high-intensity exercise, their heart function cannot keep up with the exercise needs. In addition, lack of training, uncoordinated movements, holding breath, etc., cause a decrease in blood return and a significant decrease in cardiac output, resulting in temporary cerebral ischemia.

2. Excessive discharge of carbon dioxide from the body due to over-breathing or rapid breathing can lead to respiratory alkali poisoning, which can cause contraction of brain capillaries, ischemia and hypoxia of brain cells, dizziness, black eyes and even fainting.

3. When doing exercises that mainly involve the lower limbs, such as running, the blood vessels in the lower limbs will dilate. Especially when you stop suddenly after strenuous exercise, a large amount of blood will accumulate in the blood vessels in the lower limbs, causing insufficient blood supply to the brain.

4. Hypoglycemia syncope induced by exercise:

It is more common in long-distance sports events, and people with a history of hypoglycemia are prone to hypoglycemia during exercise. Prodromal symptoms include hunger, weakness, sweating, dizziness, tachycardia, confusion, etc. The symptoms can be relieved or recovered after glucose supplementation.

It is best not to do the following after strenuous exercise.

1. Do not drink ice drinks or beverages

During strenuous exercise, the body loses a lot of water and sodium, so it is normal to feel thirsty. At this time, you can replenish some light salt water and purified water. Drinks cannot quench your thirst. In particular, avoid drinking cold drinks, which can easily cause adverse reactions such as diarrhea and stomach pain.

2. Don’t take a break immediately

Squatting or lying down immediately after strenuous exercise will hinder blood return, hinder blood circulation, and make limb pain and headaches more likely. It is best to stand or walk first to allow your body to relax naturally.

3. Don’t eat right away

After strenuous exercise, the nervous system is still in a tense state, and blood is still concentrated in the functional organs of movement and has not yet flowed back to various organs. At this time, the digestive function is relatively poor, and eating at this time is not good for gastrointestinal function.

4. Don’t take a shower right away

After strenuous exercise, the body's temperature will rise, causing blood vessels to dilate and blood flow to accelerate. It takes a certain amount of time for the body temperature and blood circulation to return to normal. If you take a bath at this time, whether it is cold water or hot water, it will stimulate the blood vessels and hinder the normal blood return, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the heart or brain. In severe cases, coma symptoms will occur.
