The main function of aerobic exercise is fitness, while the main function of anaerobic exercise is plasticity. A general fitness plan combines aerobic exercise with anaerobic exercise to achieve the purpose of strengthening the body.

This mainly depends on the intensity of the exercise. When the exercise intensity is relatively low, the oxygen supply is sufficient, and the body obtains energy through aerobic oxidation of energy substances, which is aerobic exercise; when the exercise intensity is high, the oxygen supply is relatively insufficient, and the body can use the glycogen glycolysis to produce lactic acid to obtain energy, which is anaerobic exercise. It can be seen from this that, in general, the division between aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise is mainly determined by whether lactic acid is produced during exercise.
