Basic Introduction

Aerobics originated in the late 1970s. The original English name is “Aerobics”, which means “aerobic exercise” and “fitness aerobics”. In the early 1980s, American fitness and film star Jane Fonda wrote and published "The Art of Aerobics" in 1981 based on her own fitness experience and insights, which caused a sensation around the world and played a positive role in the development of aerobics around the world. Aerobics was introduced into my country in the early 1980s.

Basic classification

At present, there are many types of aerobics in the world and in my country, and the classification methods are also different. Therefore, according to the purpose and tasks of aerobics, it can be divided into three categories: fitness aerobics, competitive aerobics and performance aerobics. Fitness Aerobics

Aerobics, also known as mass aerobics, is a popular fitness exercise that integrates fitness, entertainment and disease prevention. The main purpose of aerobics is to keep fit, therefore, its exercise intensity and movement difficulty are relatively low, and it can be chosen by people of different ages, levels, genders, and occupations in society. According to different needs, aerobics can be further classified and named from different perspectives.

According to age structure, it can be divided into aerobics for the elderly, aerobics for the middle-aged, aerobics for the youth, aerobics for teenagers, aerobics for children, and aerobics for toddlers.

According to the anatomical structure of the human body, the activity parts can be divided into head and neck aerobics, shoulder aerobics, chest aerobics, arm aerobics, abdominal aerobics, hip aerobics, leg aerobics, etc.

According to the purpose and tasks of the exercises, it can be divided into warm-up aerobics, posture aerobics, body aerobics, weight loss aerobics, rhythm aerobics, vitality aerobics, running and jumping aerobics, etc.

According to the form of exercise, it can be divided into freehand aerobics, aerobics with light equipment (dumbbells, colored balls, garlands, ropes, hand drums, etc.), and aerobics with special equipment (mat aerobics, pedal aerobics, cycle machine aerobics, etc.).

According to the number of people, it can be divided into single, double, triple, 6, 8 and group aerobics.

According to gender, it can be divided into women's aerobics and men's aerobics.

According to the names and movement characteristics, it can be divided into Jane Fonda aerobics, yoga aerobics, disco aerobics, combat aerobics, Latin aerobics, jazz aerobics, etc.

Competitive Aerobics

Competitive aerobics is a set of aerobics with high artistry, compiled according to the requirements of competition rules and regulations, with the main purpose of achieving excellent results in competitions. Competitive aerobics only involves competitions based on self-chosen movements, which have specific competition rules and scoring methods. It requires the completion of movements of a certain difficulty and has high requirements on the body's cardiopulmonary function, physical fitness, technical skills, and artistic expression ability. Generally more suitable for young people. There are five events in the competitive aerobics competition: men's individual, women's individual, mixed doubles, mixed three-person, and mixed six-person aerobics.

Performing aerobics

Performance aerobics is mainly aimed at showing one's own value and charm in the performance; cultivating sentiments, purifying the soul, and promoting the widespread development of aerobics activities while watching; meeting people's needs to develop and express themselves. It is performed in specific activities, occasions or festival celebrations. It is a sports program that combines watching and entertainment. Generally speaking, fitness aerobics is extremely common for performances, while competitive aerobics is not restricted by rules when used for performances.
