What are the precautions for practicing Tai Chi?

Tai Chi is the main fitness program for the elderly, and many people learn Tai Chi for fitness or to cure illness. Before practicing Tai Chi, you should pay attention to warm-up exercises to loosen up the stiff joints in your body. This will make it easier to get into the state when practicing Tai Chi and less likely to get injured. The breathing method of Tai Chi practitioners is abdominal breathing, which is characterized by being long, slow and even. Therefore, the amount of breath each time is relatively large, and the requirements for the surrounding environment and air quality are relatively high. It is not recommended to go out and practice Tai Chi in foggy weather.

1. Avoid letting the gods stay away from you

Tai Chi is three parts form and seven parts intention, and the ten parts of skill are spirit. Moves are techniques, spirit is momentum. Moves without spirit are powerless. Only moves with techniques and spirit are powerful. The divine power penetrates the heart, the divine power is unfathomable, and the divine light is as majestic as a sharp weapon. When practicing Tai Chi you must achieve coordination of hands, eyes and body, and a flow of spirit, energy and intention.

Things to note when practicing Tai Chi

2. Avoid being loose and weak

Relaxation is the door to Tai Chi and the first hurdle for Tai Chi practitioners to get started. Relaxation loosens the joints, vertebrae, and muscles, tendons, and skin, allowing Qi and blood to reach the extremities directly. It is by no means loose, messy or slack.

3. Avoid stiff training

Tai Chi is about using intention without using force, and is about being soft yet strong. Relaxation is the door to Tai Chi, while stiffness is a stumbling block to Tai Chi. Using Qi will cause Qi to stagnate, and using force will injure Qi, which are the big taboos in Tai Chi.

Air pollution is more serious in the north in winter, so people who exercise should avoid such weather. When the weather is better in winter, you should also pay attention to keeping warm when practicing Tai Chi, and adjust the exercise time appropriately. You can exercise after the sun comes out. Practicing Tai Chi for a long time can exercise the body, improve immunity, and improve sleep quality.
