How should push-ups be done?

How should push-ups be done?

During military training and games, you can often see people doing push-ups as punishment. Most people don't know much about push-ups. They think that push-ups are just lying on the ground and supporting themselves with their hands. It covers much more than this, and in fact, many people make a lot of mistakes in the way they do push-ups. Only the correct method can make the fitness effect appear. The following editor will introduce the correct way to do it.

Lie prone with your arms straight, your hands shoulder-width apart (or slightly wider), and your feet together (or slightly apart); inhale and bend your elbows so that your chest is close to the ground, and do not arch your lower back excessively; exhale until your arms are straight while pushing your body upward.

Here are the key points to complete a push-up:

Avoid weird angles and hand positions. Find an exercise posture that works for you.

Keep your torso, hips, and legs in a straight line at all times. Only those whose waist strength is too weak to lock the torso will have their butt sticking out when doing push-ups.

Keep your legs together at all times. If your legs are spread apart, you don't have to keep your torso stable while doing the exercise, which makes the exercise easier.

At the top of the movement, straighten your arms, but don't completely lock your elbows; keep them slightly bent to avoid discomfort in your joints. (This is sometimes described as keeping the arms "soft")

Breathe slowly and evenly. As a rule of thumb: exhale when pushing up and inhale when lowering. But if you feel breathing is labored, don't follow this principle and take more breaths.

For push-ups, wide-grip, shoulder-width (standard version), and narrow-grip push-ups can naturally be derived according to the distance between the hands; wide-grip push-ups can mainly stimulate the lateral area of the pectoralis major, standard push-ups can train the middle area of the pectoralis major, and narrow-grip push-ups can train the inner area of the pectoralis major. Of course, the stimulation angles of other muscle groups will also change, but the focus is on the pectoralis major.

The above is the correct way to do push-ups. You should do it more often to master the tricks. You can try different push-up methods, such as kneeling push-ups. Push-ups are a relatively comprehensive form of exercise. It is the best choice for men's fitness and can help men make their bodies stronger. But first of all, you have to use the right method, otherwise no matter how much you do, it will not be effective.
