Why do my legs hurt after exercise?

Many people feel very sore in their legs after long-distance running, especially on the first and second days after running. The muscle soreness is still very obvious. Some people can't even lift their legs, climb stairs, or squat. Many people are very curious about why their legs are so sore after long-distance running? And how can we relieve this phenomenon?

There are two main types of muscle soreness. One is the muscle soreness that occurs during or immediately after exercise, which is caused by lactic acid accumulation because the lactic acid content reaches its peak at this time; the other is muscle soreness on the second or third day of exercise. This soreness is mostly caused by muscle damage; occasional muscle soreness caused by muscle fiber damage is not surprising.

Do finishing exercises. To avoid leg pain after running, it is recommended that you do warm-up exercises before exercise to stretch your muscles and bones. After running, doing simple cool-down exercises can help avoid leg pain to a certain extent.

Apply hot towel. Applying a hot towel to the painful part of your leg can effectively relieve leg pain. If the pain is widespread, you can also consider taking a hot bath to promote blood circulation.

Tap and massage the painful area. We can tap and massage our legs to promote the excretion of lactic acid in the muscles, so that the leg pain will soon go away.

Keep exercising. When your legs hurt when you run, it must be because you haven't exercised for a long time. So as long as you keep running and stretch your leg muscles every day, you won’t feel pain in the future.

Seek medical attention if you have severe pain. If the pain is persistent or tearing, it is probably a muscle strain and you should seek medical attention immediately.

In fact, as long as you exercise regularly, muscle soreness like this will occur less frequently. Because if you don't exercise for a long time, more lactic acid will be excreted in the meat after sudden and intense exercise. As long as you massage yourself properly, there will be obvious improvement, so don't worry too much.
