What are the key points of breaststroke?

Because the current environment is not very good, many people no longer like outdoor sports and prefer indoor swimming. There are many ways to swim, and people can choose from a variety of swimming methods. Breaststroke is one of them. Before people learn breaststroke, it is best to understand the key points of breaststroke movements, so that they can practice breaststroke better and have more confidence in doing this sport.

Breaststroke is one of the more technically difficult swimming events. When practicing breaststroke, many novice swimmers often make the following incorrect leg movements when they first learn breaststroke, resulting in uncoordinated movements. Below is a summary of the causes of incorrect movements and how to correct them to help you quickly improve your breaststroke skills!

1. A series of breaststroke movements: rowing, raising head to inhale, retracting arms and legs - extending hands, lowering head to spit out water, kicking legs, squeezing water - keeping body straight and floating for a while.

2. Breathing skills: When in the water, exhale, mainly through the nose and supplemented by the mouth. Exhale slowly and lightly, and do not inhale at all, otherwise you will choke on water. When on the water surface, inhale, mainly through the mouth and supplemented by the nose. Inhale quickly and deeply.

3. Key points of breaststroke: keep your hands rowing and your legs still, retract your hands and then your legs, first extend your arms and kick your legs vigorously, then float straight and horizontally for a while.

When your legs sink when you swim, you should adjust your center of gravity. This is because people walk upright on land, with the center of gravity below the navel. When swimming, you should move your center of gravity above the navel and consciously lift your lower body so that your body does not sink or tilt. If you want to tread water, you need to move your center of gravity below your navel, just like walking on land.

Breaststroke stroke essentials:

(1) Rowing: Open your arms slightly wider than shoulder width, straighten your arms and bend your wrists to grab the water, and use your hands and forearms to row backwards, outwards and downwards. Keep your elbows still and your hands and elbows do not exceed your elbows or shoulders.

(2) Close your hands: Close your hands and make a cross, with your elbows narrower than your shoulders.

(3) Draw a peach shape in the water, and move your hands back and forth continuously without stopping.

The most important thing is to "hold the water" a little slowly, and "clamp the elbows" thoroughly and quickly, because only by clamping the elbows to retreat from the water can you use this force to lift your shoulders, inhale and enter the water. PS: keep your fingers slightly together and the gap should not be too big.

The correct breaststroke kick does not require you to exert quick and strong force at the beginning, but rather to start with a slow force (at this time further completing the flip of the palm) until the soles of the feet and the inner sides of the calves feel the pressure of the water, and then speed up and exert force. That is, the kicking speed gradually increases and the force gradually increases, so as to achieve the greatest water-kicking effect. In training, we often use simple words: kick slowly at first and then speed up, lightly at first and then heavy.

The key points of breaststroke are relatively simple compared to other ways of swimming. Therefore, in daily life, when we need to learn to swim, it is best to start with breaststroke, because after we learn breaststroke, we will be more confident in the next exercise. This is the best way to learn swimming, and it can also promote our better swimming learning.
