Place your feet hip-width apart, step forward with your left foot, slightly lift your right heel, bend your knees slightly, and keep your center of gravity between your legs; bend your elbows and bring them close to your ribs; keep your fists parallel to your cheeks, with your palms facing inward. The left hand should be slightly extended forward, ready to punch; at the same time, the right hand is placed close to the cheek, ready to defend against the opponent's blows; tighten the jaw and look at the opponent; relax the shoulders and slightly curl them forward; face the opponent in a slightly sideways posture.

Same as right-handed boxer, but in opposite direction.

If you are a power fighter, your left foot is always in front. If you are a left-handed boxer, your right foot is always in front. Whether you are practicing hitting a sandbag, sparring, or air striking, always maintain the same posture, except when shifting your footwork (see the second step for details).

Every boxer has his own habitual posture. One should not blindly imitate others. Instead, one should seek guidance from a coach to find a posture that suits him or her and that he or she feels comfortable with. Do not stand with your feet parallel and facing your opponent, and do not stand with your feet to one side, facing your opponent with your entire side. It is easy to lose balance and be knocked down by your opponent. Keep your center of gravity between your legs at all times, and slightly lift the heel of your back foot so that your body will not lose balance.

Peek-a-boo

This posture is a variation of the traditional posture and was invented by Cas D'Amato and Floyd Patterson; the chest is tucked in, the body is curled inward, and the arms are raised parallel to each other to better protect the head; when not punching, the fists are not clenched, so that you can use the fists to slap or block the opponent's fists inward or outward. When your opponent throws a punch, you can dodge his attack by swaying your body left or right or diving.
