Is Tai Chi considered an aerobic exercise?

Life lies in exercise. Nowadays, many white-collar workers are busy all day and have no time to exercise. Their physical fitness is getting worse and worse, and they are getting fatter and fatter. Doing some meaningful aerobic exercise can remove excess fat from the body and promote metabolism. As the name suggests, aerobic exercise is exercise performed in an environment with sufficient oxygen. Through aerobic exercise, the inhalation and exhalation can be balanced, which promotes blood circulation throughout the body, increases cardiopulmonary function, and regulates the body and mind. Tai Chi can promote the inhalation of oxygen through abdominal breathing, and use oxygen to achieve the purpose of fitness and weight loss.

Life lies in movement. How to choose the sport that suits you? High-intensity, short-term explosive sports such as 100-meter sprint, weightlifting, and bodybuilding are anaerobic metabolic exercises. Anaerobic exercise refers to strenuous exercise of muscles without continuous oxygen supply. When engaging in anaerobic exercise, even though our heart and lungs try their best to increase the oxygen supply to the muscles, they still cannot meet the oxygen needs of the limb muscles. As a result, the blood vessels in the brain, liver, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract contract, "squeezing" blood out to supply the muscles of the limbs, causing these organs to be in a state of hypoxia during exercise. This type of anaerobic metabolic exercise is not suitable for middle-aged and elderly people.

Tai Chi is an aerobic metabolic exercise. It is a long-lasting exercise aimed at enhancing the body's intake, transport and use of oxygen. During the entire exercise process, the oxygen inhaled by the body is equal to the oxygen needed in the body. The characteristics of aerobic metabolic exercise are low intensity, rhythm, uninterrupted, long duration, convenience, ease of performance and easy to stick to.

Aerobic metabolic exercise can increase the total blood volume. The increase in blood volume correspondingly enhances the oxygen delivery capacity and rapidly increases lung capacity.

Aerobic metabolic exercise can improve heart function, prevent heart disease, and increase the proportion of "good cholesterol" in the blood - high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, which has a preventive effect on coronary heart disease. Aerobic metabolic exercise can enhance bone density, effectively prevent calcium loss, and prevent osteoporosis.

Aerobic exercise is good for the body and can prolong life, but you should also be careful when doing aerobic exercise. First-time exercisers should allow the body to adapt first. The exercise time should not be too long. The movements should be standardized and correct, and not fast. The exercise venue should have good air and not be polluted. At the same time, patients with physical illnesses such as bleeding should not practice Tai Chi.
