The rugby field is a rectangular grass field about 100 meters long and 70 meters wide. The two long sides of the field are the sidelines, and the two short sides are the end lines. Behind the touchdown line there is a touchdown zone 10-22 meters deep, and the bottom line of this zone is the dead ball line. There is a goal in the center of the goal line, with the goal posts 5.6 meters apart and connected by a horizontal bar at a height of 3 meters.

There is a center line drawn in the middle of the field parallel to the touchline at both ends. There is a dotted line on each side 10 meters away from the center line, a dotted line 5 meters away from the touchline, and a solid line 22 meters away from the touchline. Sometimes the number "22" is marked for easy identification. Draw a dotted line 5 meters away from the sideline on both sides, and draw several short solid lines 15 meters away from the sideline.

Format

Formal rugby matches are divided into 15-a-side, 10-a-side and 7-a-side. Although the number of players is different, the field area is the same. A 15-man rugby match lasts 80 minutes with a 10-minute halftime break. A 10-man rugby match lasts 20 minutes with a 5-minute halftime break, while a 7-man rugby match lasts 14 minutes with a 1-minute halftime break.

kick off

At the beginning of each half, the player who kicks off the game makes a set kick at the midpoint of the center line; after one side scores, the other side makes a drop kick at the midpoint of the center line or behind that point. The players of the kicking team must stand behind the ball, and the opposing players must stand behind the 10-yard line of their own half, and the kicked ball must cross the opposing team's 10-yard line. After each score, the opposing team will restart the game at the center line.

rule

The player holding the ball can move forward or kick the ball forward.

The player holding the ball can only pass the ball to the side or rear, not forward.

The virtual straight line drawn to the left and right of the ball is called the "offside line". The attacking players must stay behind the offside line and cannot be offside.

When a player holding the ball is tackled and falls to the ground by the defensive team, he must immediately let go of the ball; and the player who tackles another player must immediately let go of the opponent.

Score

When the ball is brought into or kicked into the opponent's touchdown zone, the offensive player uses his body to carry the ball to the ground, which is called a touchdown and can score 5 points.

After a touchdown, any player of the offensive team can shoot once more from any point on the vertical line between the touchdown point and the touchdown line. If the shot goes into the goal, another 2 points will be awarded.

During the game, the player holding the ball can kick the ball into the goal, and he will get 3 points if he scores. The penalty kick after the opponent commits a foul can be shot directly into the goal, and 3 points will be awarded for the shot.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of the rules of English rugby. This kind of sport has many rules, and the choice of venue is also more important, so when choosing it, we must also pay attention to this, so that when we do it, we will know how to do it best.
