Can swimming really train your abdominal muscles?

Swimming is a very good sport, especially for men. Swimming can also help you keep fit and make your body muscles more developed. Especially for those who need to have abdominal muscles, you can do more swimming. So can swimming really help men have developed abdominal muscles? Some people answer yes, but some people are not sure. So how can you exercise effectively?

Few exercises build more muscle than swimming, and that means muscles all over your body. "It gives you a great full-body workout," says Mel Goldstein, a leading swim coach whose unique swim-to-body program has become a new model for fitness and conditioning across the country.

The stroke in swimming involves not only your arms and shoulders, but also your upper back and chest, and the completion of this movement requires the muscles in these areas to move through a wide range of motion. At the same time, the kicking action strengthens the muscles in your legs, buttocks, and groin.

However, while your upper and lower extremities may be your obvious driving devices, they can't push you very far without the help of the muscles in your middle, such as your abdominal muscles, external obliques, and lower back. In recent years, scientists have learned that core strength and the forces generated by trunk rotation are key to a swimmer's power in the water.

We now know that swimming parallel to the surface of the water is like trying to hit a golf ball with your arm. Few sports work the core muscles as well as swimming. Besides making you look better, swimming also affects the microscopic level of how your muscles function, a level made up of complex muscle fibers of different types.

When swimming, the body will mobilize a large number of "slow-twitch" fibers that are responsible for endurance and "fast-twitch" fibers that are responsible for speed and strength. You will find that persisting in swimming will gradually bring you closer to an ideal athletic physique.

Swimming is a very important activity in life. Many young people will go swimming. At present, it has been confirmed that swimming can exercise the abdominal muscles very well. Through the above scientific proofs, if you want to exercise your abdominal muscles, swimming is one of the good sports. So if you have time, it is better to participate in swimming more often.
