Is walking an aerobic exercise?

Because aerobic exercise can play a good role in weight loss, people who want to lose weight often use aerobic exercise to achieve their goal. However, some people cannot do more intense exercises such as running and playing ball due to physical problems, and can only do more moderate exercises such as walking. But is walking considered aerobic exercise? What should you pay attention to when walking to lose weight?

Aerobic exercise refers to physical exercise performed by the human body with adequate oxygen supply. That is, during exercise, the amount of oxygen inhaled by the human body is equal to its demand, reaching a state of physiological balance. Simply put, aerobic exercise refers to any rhythmic exercise that lasts for a long time (about 15 minutes or more) and has a moderate or high intensity (75% to 80% of the maximum heart rate). Aerobic exercise is a kind of regular exercise that can last for more than 5 minutes with some energy left. Therefore, jogging, swimming, cycling, walking, running in place, aerobics, etc. are all aerobic exercises.

To make walking aerobic exercise more effective, you need to pay attention to the following points:

Distance walked each time

The best walking distance each time is about 5 to 10 kilometers. You can also gradually reach this level according to your own situation. The faster the speed, the better the effect, but you should do it within your ability and gradually increase the requirements and speed according to your physical condition. Pay attention to the increase in quantity and don't go crazy. The key is to proceed step by step according to your own situation and persist.

Keep walking every day

If you keep walking like this for 30 minutes to 1 hour every day, you will see the results after 2 to 3 months. Moreover, according to research from Harvard University in the United States, if you walk like this for 30 minutes every day, you can achieve the magical effect of losing weight and prolonging life.

It can be seen from this that walking is an aerobic exercise, so as long as you persist in walking, it can also help you lose weight. However, if you want walking to be more effective in losing weight, first of all, the daily exercise time should not be less than half an hour, otherwise the fat in the body will not be burned. Secondly, you must pay attention to continuous exercise and be able to persist for a long time to achieve your goal.
