Why do I feel chest tightness after exercise?

Exercise has many benefits for our body. Regular exercise can effectively enhance human immunity. However, sometimes unreasonable exercise methods can also bring us some discomfort, such as body aches, chest tightness, etc. Frequent chest tightness after exercise may also be caused by some disease. At this time, it is best to pay attention to it and find out the cause in time.

Exercise-induced asthma, also known as exercise-induced asthma, is a special type of bronchial asthma. It refers to acute, temporary large and small airway obstruction that occurs after a certain amount of exercise.

Exercise can act as a single trigger or as one of multiple triggers in certain asthma patients. Exercise-induced asthma can occur at any age, with roughly equal incidence in adults and children, and more common in men than in women. Most patients experience chest tightness, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and wheezing 6 to 10 minutes after the start of strenuous exercise and 2 to 10 minutes after the end of exercise. Obvious wheezing can be heard in the lungs.

Usually the above symptoms can be gradually relieved within 0.5 to 1 hour; in a few severe patients, they may last for 2 to 3 hours. In very rare cases, the above asthma symptoms may appear 4 to 13 hours after exercise, which is called "exercise-induced delayed asthmatic reaction".

Exercise-induced asthma is obviously not an independent disease. In most cases, asthma is only triggered by exercise in asthma patients. It can also be said that it is just a type of asthma. Patients with exercise-induced asthma often have other characteristics of asthma, such as being triggered by external allergens, infections and other factors, and being effectively treated with antiasthmatic drugs. The course of the disease, onset and remission patterns are not much different from those of general asthma patients, but there are indeed a few patients who have no history of asthma attacks in the past and their first asthma attack is induced by exercise.

For friends who often experience chest tightness after exercise, it is best to maintain moderation during normal exercise and try not to engage in overly intense exercise. Exercising for too long will also cause obvious discomfort to others. For friends with particularly severe symptoms, they should go to the hospital for examination in time and receive treatment according to their own situation.
