How to play badminton

Badminton is not unfamiliar to us. Some people have played badminton when they were young and think it is a very interesting sport, so many people have a strong interest in playing badminton. Although we have played badminton for many years, we don’t know much about the techniques and methods of playing badminton, so our badminton skills have not been able to improve. So how to play badminton? What are the basic essentials? Let’s learn together.

1. The first thing is to hold the racket. Mastering the correct way to hold the racket is the first step to playing badminton well. Because only with the correct grip can you give full play to the role of your fingers and wrists when hitting the ball.

2. Preparation posture before hitting the ball. There are two types of preparatory postures, one is the posture for receiving the serve (singles and doubles), and the other is the posture for preparing to hit the ball after it is served. When receiving a serve, you should stand with your feet forward and backward, with your left foot in front and your right foot behind. Place your feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart, with your heels lifted. The preparatory action after receiving the serve should be to stand with both feet parallel, with the feet equal to the width of shoulders, with the right foot slightly forward, half a foot more than the left foot, and both heels slightly raised, ready to start at any time.

3. Standard movements for swinging the racket to hit high balls. Before hitting the ball, first turn sideways with your right foot behind you, using your right foot as a support point. When swinging the racket, the elbow should be used as the axis, and the upper arm should drive the forearm to swing backward. The ball is mainly hit by the swinging speed of the forearm and the strength of the wrist and fingers, and of course the strength of the waist rotation. Pay special attention to turning sideways, with your left foot in front and your right foot behind. Keep your center of gravity on your right foot when exerting force.

4. The angle of the racket and the choice of hitting point when hitting the ball. When hitting the ball, choose different angles and hitting points on the racket face to achieve your hitting purpose, and the effect of hitting the ball will be different. When hitting a high ball, the racket face is slightly upward, the hitting point is above the head, and the arm exerts force forward and upward. When hitting a flat high ball, the racket face is facing forward, the hitting point is slightly forward, and the arm exerts force forward and upward. When smashing the ball, the hitting point is in the upper front, and the racket face is pointed downward when hitting the ball, while the forearm, wrist and fingers are used to swing downward with speed and strength. When hitting a smash or drop shot, control the racket face with your fingers, hit the right or left side of the butt, press down with your wrist and fingers to change the direction of the ball, and pay attention to maintaining consistency in your movements.

5. Footwork. The footwork is divided into: 1. Net footwork 2. Midfield movement footwork 3. Backcourt footwork. The training of footwork is very important. All footwork starts with the right foot and ends with the right foot.

6. Ball in front of the net. Pushing the ball, hooking the ball and pinching the ball are among the light techniques in badminton and are technically difficult. The key is to relax the hand holding the racket when touching the ball, and try to control the racket with your fingers, so that you can hit a high-quality ball.

According to the above introduction, we know that learning to play badminton is not a particularly difficult thing, so as long as you study hard, master the correct posture and movements, summarize your experience, and then practice a lot and watch more, your badminton skills will definitely improve. You must use it flexibly when playing badminton, so that you can definitely improve your level quickly.
