The Badminton World Federation made final revisions to the 21-point system and announced that the new rules will be officially implemented from February 1, 2006. It is reported that the biggest change in the new rules is the cancellation of the serve scoring system. In addition, the winning points for each game in all individual events will be unified at 21 points.

The specific provisions are as follows:

singles

1. Each game is played in a best-of-three format; 2. The side that gets 21 points first wins the game; 3. If the score is tied at 20-20, the winning side must be 2 points ahead of the opponent to win; 4. If the score is 29-29, the side that gets the 30th point first wins; 5. The winning side of the first game will serve first in the next game; 6. When one side gets 11 points in the game, the players of both sides will rest for 1 minute; 7. The rest time between two games is 2 minutes.

Doubles

1. Change the double serve right to a single serve right; 2. The back serve line is retained and the current rules apply; 3. Before the start of the game, both sides determine which side will choose to serve first or last by tossing a coin.
