Since fog is composed of condensed water vapor suspended in the low altitude near the ground, in densely populated cities with heavy traffic, these tiny water droplets often contain some soluble harmful pollutants and pathogenic microorganisms. Therefore, it is not advisable to go out for exercise on foggy days.

The foggy weather layer is stable, which is not conducive to the diffusion of air pollutants, and a large amount of harmful gases accumulate in the lower atmosphere. It is best not to go out for sports activities at this time to avoid inhaling too many harmful pollutants and inducing various allergic diseases such as tracheitis, pharyngitis and rhinitis.

There is a lot of water vapor on foggy days, and the air is filled with condensation. When people exercise, the body's oxygen consumption increases, and their breathing will inevitably become deeper and faster, thereby inhaling more mist, which will hinder the gas exchange in the alveoli, causing brain hypoxia and uncomfortable symptoms such as dizziness and lightheadedness.

The air is humid on foggy days. When people run, climb or do other exercises, muscle and bone activity increases, resulting in a significant increase in body heat production, requiring a large amount of sweating to dissipate heat. When exercising in the fog, the high water vapor pressure and humidity will cause poor heat dissipation from the skin, making it difficult for sweat to evaporate, making people feel uncomfortable all over.

When it is foggy, the sky is hazy and visibility is very poor. When people run, ride a bike or do other sports in the fog, accidents can easily happen if they are careless due to the large number of vehicles on the road and poor visibility. Especially for the elderly, who have poor eyesight and hearing and slow reactions, it is not suitable for them to go out for exercise on foggy days.
