Why do we sweat when exercising?

Why do we sweat when exercising?

As people's living standards improve, they pay more and more attention to their own health issues. You see, young people are doing exercise and fitness, and the elderly are practicing Tai Chi and square dancing, which are all good habits. Exercise is good, but we still need to pay attention to some issues. For example, you will definitely sweat after exercise, and everyone will feel refreshed, so does it mean that the more you sweat, the better? In fact, it is not the case. Exercise also requires sweating in a healthy way. Let’s take a look at how to sweat in a healthy way!

How to sweat to be healthy? There are three points: one is the range, which should be evenly distributed all over the body; the second is the amount, which should be slight sweat or almost like sweat. To put it simply, it should be damp and moist without forming sweat beads or drops; the third is the time, which should be sustainable. If it meets the first two points, the longer the time, the better.

Exercise is a means to achieve normal sweating, which is understood by many doctors and patients. The author also lists "moderate hyperactivity" as the second of the "four mores", but there are many misunderstandings in actual operation.

For example, sports that aim to go "higher, faster, stronger" have nothing to do with health. High-confrontation, high-intensity sports such as basketball, badminton, and intense sprinting have nothing to do with health. This can be proven by the fact that professional athletes suffer from many injuries. Therefore, a new concept called "healthy exercise" must be proposed.

In short, healthy exercise is exercise that aims to achieve "continuous, even, and slight sweating", that is, exercise with long-term health as the ultimate goal. When communicating with psoriasis patients, we often say a sentence - "Low-intensity and long-term exercise will make your whole body sweat", which refers to healthy exercise.

To integrate treatment into life, labor is easier to normalize than exercise.

Sports can be divided into healthy sports and competitive sports; accordingly, labor can also be divided into healthy labor and competitive labor.

Many years ago, the author summarized the differences between exercise and labor into four points: one is the different range of movements; two is the different purposes; three is the different moods; and four is the presence or absence of rhythm.

First, the scope of labor is mostly local, while the scope of exercise is mostly whole-body.

Secondly, the purpose of labor is to finish it as quickly as possible and get paid; while the purpose of exercise is to exercise the body and slowly enjoy the process.

Third, the mood when working is mostly stressful, while the mood when exercising is mostly relaxing and pleasant.

Fourthly, few people pay attention to rhythm when working; however, many sports are meant to reflect the beauty and rhythm of life.

Later, when the author was initially researching comprehensive and systematic therapies to achieve health through sweating, "appropriate hyperactivity" was mentioned as an important item. At that time, what was emphasized was the difference between labor and sports. People were told that labor could not replace sports, which was suspected of neglecting labor and emphasizing sports. The idea of "sports-type labor" was also proposed.

It was not until recent years that a systematic concept was developed to divide sports and labor into health-related and competitive types.

Labor and exercise can both be beneficial to health, but they must be "healthy exercise" and "healthy labor" with health as the goal. Using sweat as the standard can easily identify whether the labor and exercise you are engaged in are healthy. If you can meet the standards of "continuous, even, and slight sweat" at the same time, it is judged as healthy, otherwise it is competitive and unhealthy.

"Competitive" and "healthy" sports and labor are easy to transform in daily life. What is important is the change of concept. For example, when riding a bicycle to a destination, it takes 30 minutes, and when arriving, the head and face are sweating profusely, but the rest of the body has not yet become hot; another day, it takes 45 minutes to ride the original distance, and there is slight sweat on the head, the whole body, and even the front of the calves, and all parts of the body are evenly sweating. In this way, the transformation from "competitive" to "healthy" sports and labor is completed.

To sum up, we should advocate "healthy exercise" and "healthy labor", and promote the healthy sweating indicators of "continuous, even, and slight sweating". These are not only beneficial for the prevention and treatment of some diseases, but also have great significance for the prevention and treatment of other chronic diseases and health care. Therefore, you must avoid sweating too much when exercising. You can drink a little warm water before exercise.
