What are the hand function training techniques?

People's hands need to exercise a lot every day, and they will come into contact with many tools when working. It is inevitable that some accidents will cause hand injuries. If the injury is serious, surgery is required for treatment. In this case, the patient must exercise the function of the hand after the operation. So what are the hand function exercise techniques?

First, what are the hand function training techniques? Finger function training: first assist the thumb and other fingers to perform functional training of palm-to-palm, finger-to-finger, finger-to-finger, fist-clenching, and fist-relaxing. The exercise time starts from five minutes and gradually extends to half an hour. The amount of exercise gradually increases. It can be started from 3 times a day, 5-10 times per finger each time, and gradually extended to several hundred times each time. The range of passive movement of each joint is limited to what the patient can tolerate. Functional training should be started 2 weeks after hand trauma. Its purpose is to restore the active movement of the wrist joint, metacarpophalangeal joint and interphalangeal joints, improve joint mobility, and restore the patient's hand function to the greatest extent possible.

Second, training in daily life movements: After the stitches are removed, the patient can be trained to hold a spoon to eat. Wrap a bandage around the spoon handle for one week to increase friction. As time goes by, train the patient to dress, button, put on shoes, lace, cut nails, etc., until the patient can take care of himself completely. Equipment training: Use a hand gripper or ball to train finger flexors and grip strength, 2-3 times a day, 5-10 minutes each time in the early stages. As muscle endurance increases, you can gradually extend the time, the longer the training time, the better.

What are the hand function training techniques? Occupational therapy: Make some handicrafts according to the patient's interests, hobbies and own conditions to exercise the flexibility of the affected hand. It can be from simple to complex. Let the patient arrange it by himself in the early stage and encourage him to complete it independently. If there are difficulties, appropriate help can be given. Handicrafts can include calligraphy, painting, carving, weaving, etc. Skill training: As hand functions gradually recover, labor skill training similar to the original occupation should be arranged in a planned manner. Mental workers can practice writing, using an abacus, operating a computer, etc.; physical workers can train in sawing, planing, nailing wood boards, loading and unloading trucks, etc.
