What are the basics of Xiantian Qigong?

Xiantian Qigong is not Qigong that is formed innately, but refers to the way of training, which is an important way to practice Qigong. There are basic ways to practice this kind of Qigong, as well as complex ones. Practitioners should clearly master the various Qigong exercises, the skills and key points when practicing, which can speed up the entry of Qigong practice. Otherwise, practicing Qigong is ineffective. You can only get in touch with Qigong but cannot achieve the effect of training. So what are the basic tips of Xiantian Qigong?

The basics of Xiantian Qigong are:

1. Theory of the Three Treasures in Order

Heaven, earth and man are the three talents, and each of the three talents has three treasures. The sky has three treasures: the sun, the moon, and the stars; the earth has three treasures: water, fire, and wind; and humans have three treasures: spirit, energy, and essence. If one of the three treasures of a person is missing, the person will die. The three treasures of a person are divided into innate and acquired. The three innate treasures are primordial spirit, primordial energy and primordial essence. The three acquired treasures are the conscious mind (thinking mind), breathing air, and sympathetic essence. The innate and acquired factors work together in a way that is difficult to analyze, and they are inseparable unless you have mastered the most profound skills. Although the acquired spirit of thinking and the innate spirit of non-spirituality (that is, the natural perception without intention, also called true perception) can be separated, they are also related. It is also difficult to distinguish between the innate primordial essence (that is, the true essence that is born from birth, is unconscious and occurs when one is in a state of extreme tranquility) and the acquired sexual essence. The acquired breath and the innate true qi are easy to distinguish but difficult to separate into clear and turbid. But as long as you practice and observe with a calm mind, you will eventually understand clearly. As the saying goes: Nothing in the world is difficult for one who sets his mind to it.

2. Refining Essence into Qi

(1) Rest and nourish Qi

Practicing tranquility is the main practice of Xiantian Qigong. If the mind is not calm, the Qi will have nowhere to go, and when practicing, it is inevitable that the mind will be confused or full of thoughts, which will lead to the spirit being relaxed and the practice being ineffective. If you want to achieve tranquility, you must develop a habit in your daily life. Don't be attached to speech, hearing, seeing, movement, etc. You must remain quiet. You must also cultivate your great spirit when walking, living, sitting, and lying down. This will prevent you from hindering your chance of entering tranquility. The ancients said: When walking, place your feet on a flat road; when standing, concentrate your mind on the void; when sitting, regulate the breath in your dantian; when lying down, guard the pearl under your navel. Life is endless and the great spirit lasts forever. Your temper will naturally go away, your temperament will naturally become gentle, and your heart will be free of irritability. Only in this way can you practice well.

(2) Focusing on the mind and stopping thoughts

When practicing qigong and the mind is quiet, distracting thoughts often arise, and random ideas become lost, making the mind and breath unable to be in harmony. For this, we can use the method of sightseeing to collect its scattered nature and gather it into light. The method is to keep calm and focus on one hand, while observing the world and stopping thoughts on the other, making use of both. After practicing, it is like white clouds flying from outside at first, and then like waves gathering from outside to inside. After a long time, there will be a blank white space in front of your eyes, without any fluctuations. Only then will you know that your mind is no longer disturbed. Light is the manifestation of nature. If nature is scattered, light will be scattered; if nature is concentrated, light will be concentrated; if nature is fixed, light will be fixed; if nature is full, light will be round. Therefore, according to the manifestation of light, the intellect gathers and disperses. The specific practice of light meditation is to sit quietly for a while first, until the body and mind are settled, then focus your mind on the present (about 20 centimeters in front of the eyebrow), as if shining and settling, and as if there and not there. Soon white clouds will appear in front of you. Shine your mind on the white light, from faint white to vast white, from small light to large light, from fluctuating to still light, and from imperfect to round light. But the circle of light can only be achieved after entering into a state of great concentration. One should not be too impatient, and certainly not pursue it.

It is easiest to see light when practicing during the three hours of Zi, Chou and Yin (11pm to 5am), because this is the time when Yang is generated. Beginners in the practice of qigong should pay special attention to this opportunity.

(III) Concentrate on the Qi points, and let the heart and breath be interdependent

On the basis of concentrating and stopping thoughts, when a vast white motionless area appears in front of your eyes, move your mind to Dantian (one inch and three fen below the navel), keep your heart in the void, and focus your mind on the Qi points, neither close nor far away, do not forget or help, be still and focus, focus and be still, after a long time you will be able to sleep and be alert, never feel drowsy, and let go of the sleepiness yourself. Your true heart will be independent and empty, but you will feel the slight breath following you, the inhalation will not go down to the Qi points, and the exhalation will not go up to the heart, as if it is continuous. When the mind and breath are interdependent, consciousness is eliminated. The mind is in the breath without knowing it, and the qi surrounds the mind without knowing it. The two become one. This is the achievement of refining the mind and combining the qi.

The above article describes the basic essentials of Xiantian Qigong. When practicing Xiantian Qigong, one should pay attention to the secrets, as well as the Yin-Yang nature of Qigong and the control of breath. Qigong can be static or dynamic, and the training methods for different types are different. At the same time, we should pay attention to the entry-level training of Qigong. There are many ways to explain its basic essentials, which can help to master Qigong quickly. If you encounter problems or don't know how to do it during training, you should first familiarize yourself with it and judge it, and then practice it in the correct way. Don't practice Qigong randomly.
