Urine leaks unconsciously while running

When exercising, many people choose running, because running can relax the muscles of the whole body and have a very good exercise effect. During running, everyone must also master the correct running method, otherwise it is easy to experience muscle soreness and throat pain. Some people also find that urine flows out unconsciously when running. What is the reason for this situation?

This condition is called stress incontinence and is a common form of involuntary urinary incontinence.

Because the body is subjected to strong impact during exercise, for example, when running, your feet will be subjected to repeated impact, and these impact forces will be suddenly transmitted to your pelvic floor muscles, causing the pelvic floor muscles to bear the weight of the human body. After exercise, these muscles are usually more tired than before exercise, which can lead to urinary incontinence. This principle also explains why urinary incontinence often occurs at the end of exercise. The researchers also found that after 90 minutes of exercise, people's pelvic floor muscles will be in a state of fatigue.

However, runners are not at high risk for stress urinary incontinence. People who are really prone to stress urinary incontinence are trampolinists, gymnasts, ice hockey players and ballet dancers. But whether you're flying high on a trampoline or running a 5K, incontinence isn't just an embarrassing problem. It can also increase your risk of yeast infections, urinary tract infections and sleep disturbances, researchers say.

Experts believe that the way to control stress urinary incontinence is not to take medicine, but to take prevention measures. The best way to deal with any type of urinary incontinence is through pelvic floor muscle training, also known as Kegel exercises. This exercise can increase muscle tone by stretching the pubococcygeus muscles of the pelvic floor, making the muscles of your urethra and other organs thicker and stronger.
