A disease can actually be caused by excessive exercise. How terrible!

Onychomycosis is a very common skin disease in life. There are many reasons that cause onychomycosis, but have you heard that excessive exercise can also cause onychomycosis? Let’s take a look together below.

Elderly people over 60 years old have poor self-care ability and are often unable to take care of their feet. The incidence of onychomycosis is extremely high and the course of the disease is long. Among the elderly patients with onychomycosis, males are more common than females, toenails are more commonly affected than fingernails, and it is often accompanied by tinea manuum and tinea pedis. The affected nails are often highly turbid, thickened, and deformed because they cannot be trimmed properly for a long time.

Pregnant women have higher hormone levels and more secretions. In addition, they are clumsy and have difficulty bending over, which makes it difficult to clean their feet. This creates a good growth environment for fungi and makes them more susceptible to onychomycosis. Pregnant women should not use oral antifungal drugs to avoid adverse effects on the fetus. They can use small amounts of antifungal drugs topically or use other treatment methods.

The incidence of onychomycosis in children is only one thirtieth of that in adults. Common pathogens are Trichophyton rubrum or Candida albicans, which often only manifest as white cloudy turbidity on the nail plate. Most children become infected because of an ill family member.

AIDS patients suffer from onychomycosis because their immune function is low and they cannot resist pathogenic bacteria.

Diabetic patients have high sugar levels in their blood and poor white blood cell function, making them extremely susceptible to infectious diseases. After contracting onychomycosis, it often takes a long time to heal. For patients with systemic diseases and onychomycosis, the primary disease should be actively controlled.

When athletes exercise, their feet sweat a lot and the inside of their shoes becomes moist, which can lead to the growth of fungi and cause onychomycosis. In addition, athletes often suffer damage and cracking of their nails during exercise, which can easily lead to fungal invasion and colonization.

Experts say: The above introduces the reasons why different types of special groups of people get onychomycosis. According to different causes, there are corresponding prevention methods and treatment measures. Patients must go to a regular hospital for treatment.
