What are the swimming skills? Three major swimming skills you need to know

After learning how to float in the water, you need to start learning technical movements. When you first learn to swim, you pay a lot of attention to how to do the movements, but you often neglect the basic elements. Listen to what the coach of Jining Swimming Pool says: If you want to swim freely in the water and practice any movements, you must master the three elements of breathing, balance and relaxation.

breathe

Or it is called ventilation. Some people may say, everyone knows how to breathe? We know it when we are born. Do we need to learn it? This is true, but that is in the air. Breathing is not so easy when people are in water. It is common for beginners to swim about ten meters holding their breath and then stop to gasp for air, with their faces turning red. This is because they have not mastered the art of breathing in water. So how do people breathe in water? Of course, people cannot breathe in water like fish, so when swimming, people must learn the skills of breathing in water and master the method of breathing, so that they can move freely like fish.

There are three principles to breathing when swimming: first, exhale underwater and inhale above water; second, exhale mainly through the nose and inhale only through the mouth; third, exhale slowly and inhale quickly. Breathing in water is different from your normal habits. Normally you breathe through your nose, but when swimming you inhale through your mouth. When you start practicing, you can stand in chest-deep water, take a deep breath above the water, then squat down so your head is completely submerged in the water. Then exhale slowly and continuously through your nose. When you feel that your lungs are almost out of air, gradually rise your head while accelerating your exhalation through your mouth and nose. When all the air is exhaled, your head (mouth) is just above the water. At this time, open your mouth wide and inhale quickly. After inhaling, enter the water and repeat the exercise. After you have mastered it in place, you can combine it with swimming practice.

balance

What I mean by underwater balance here is that a person's body should remain streamlined in water, that is, in the shape of a "one". If you swim in the dog paddle style, it is not very suitable. If pretty girls and handsome guys want to attract attention in the swimming pool, it is better for them to learn standard postures, and mastering the balance in water is very necessary. As we all know, the human body has weight, and has a center of gravity in the lower abdomen. When a person is in water, the water will have buoyancy on the person, and this buoyancy also has a center.

Let's call it the floating center. So where is this center of buoyancy? Think about it, where is the most air in the human body? Yes, the lungs. The lungs in the human body are like the "fish bladder" in the belly of a fish, and the center of gravity of the human body is in the chest cavity. When a person lies prone in water, in a natural state, the center of gravity is in the lower abdomen, and the center of buoyancy is in the chest, so the legs will sink and the balance of the body cannot be guaranteed. If you want to maintain balance, you have to make the center of gravity and the center of buoyancy coincide. Is this possible? Of course you can.

In order to make the center of gravity and center of buoyancy of the human body coincide with each other, the person must first be in a straight line, which is called the longitudinal axis of the human body. The head, shoulders, chest, waist, hips, legs and feet should all be on the longitudinal axis of the human body. When the arms are extended forward, they should also be on the longitudinal axis of the human body. Secondly, press the chest to move the center of buoyancy backwards. Pressing the chest feels like an invisible hand is pressing down on the back of the chest, but in fact you are making your chest maintain a certain pressure on the water. At the same time , the human body is a straight line, just like a seesaw. One end of the straight line - the chest is downward, and the fulcrum is between the chest and abdomen, so the hips and legs at the other end will float up. In addition, extending your arms forward can move the body's center of gravity forward appropriately. This way the body can be balanced and streamlined.

When learning the four swimming strokes , the body's balance is constantly destroyed and restored. By repeating this process, people move forward. Experience streamline on shore, stand with your back against the wall, with your head, shoulders, hips and feet close to the wall, slightly tighten your abdomen and hips to reduce the gap between your waist and the wall as much as possible, remember this feeling firmly, and practice it in the water. When practicing floating in water, one is to experience the effect of moving the head up and down on balance; two is to experience the feeling of pressing the chest; three is the difference between having both hands at the sides of the body and extending both hands forward.

Relax

The relaxation while swimming is not real relaxation, but actually moderate tension. What is tension and what is relaxation? Are you kidding me? Absolutely not kidding me. Let's first clarify what moderate tension is. Normal standing, sitting, and walking require a certain amount of effort, and this effort is moderate tension. Relaxing while swimming means reducing the effort as much as possible while maintaining moderate tension or exerting moderate effort. So how do we determine this degree? To understand this degree, we must first understand how to use force.

There are two kinds of human force, one is static force. This kind of force will not cause the shape to change; the other kind is dynamic force . This application of force will cause the body to change in shape. For example, the process of a weightlifter lifting a barbell uses dynamic force, and the static force is used to maintain the upward posture after lifting the barbell; and the weight of the barbell is the degree of force. So this degree is the minimum force required to maintain a certain body posture. When swimming, the body is kept streamlined, that is, the body is moderately tense into a "one" shape. On this basis, adding arm and leg movements, it becomes breaststroke, freestyle, etc.
