So, what should parents pay attention to when traveling with their children?


Sun protection

The summer sun is quite strong, so sun protection is the first step to pay attention to. When encountering the scorching sun after noon, the mother should apply sunscreen suitable for the baby's skin. If the skin is exposed to the scorching sun for a long time, it will cause I to II degree burns and heat stroke may occur. At the same time, the scorching sun can also harm the eyes, so mothers should put on sun hats or UV-proof sunglasses for their babies.

Drink plenty of water

When traveling in summer, babies will sweat a lot, so mothers should replenish water for them in time. It is important to teach your baby the correct way to drink water. Remind your baby not to learn from the models in the advertisements and drink up the bottle of water in one gulp - this is very harmful from a physiological point of view, as it will affect the body's blood circulation, digestion, and add burden to the heart. The body responds by sweating more, which leads to further salt loss and may even cause cramps and spasms.

Mothers should let their babies drink only a few sips of water at a time, increase the frequency of drinking, and replenish water even when they are not thirsty, so that water can be replenished in a balanced and orderly manner.

Drink less cold drinks

Drinking iced drinks in the hot summer is indeed a very enjoyable thing, but mothers should pay attention that they should not give their babies large amounts of cold drinks immediately during or after activities.

Because cold drinks not only lower the temperature of the stomach, but also dilute the gastric juice, damage the physiological function of the stomach, easily cause indigestion and diarrhea, and in severe cases can even lead to acute gastritis. Drinking cold drinks should also follow the principles of drinking water, and should be consumed in small amounts and multiple times. After the activity, wait until your body temperature drops significantly before drinking cold drinks.



Preventing heat stroke

When traveling in the summer, due to the high temperature, the body cannot dissipate heat as fast as it accumulates heat. If you are not careful, you can easily get heatstroke. During summer activities, in order to protect their babies from the sun and from being injured by grass and thorns, mothers usually let their babies wear hats and long sleeves and pants, which creates problems for heat dissipation.

Therefore, to help dissipate heat, when walking in the sun, the mother can soak the hat with water; when walking in a cool place, let the baby take off the hat; try to choose a cool and ventilated place to rest. When resting, put down the backpack and unbutton the clothes.

If your baby has muscle cramps, you should rest immediately, slowly massage the cramped area to relax and stretch the muscles, and replenish water and electrolytes in time. If your baby shows symptoms such as a rapid pulse, dizziness, weakness, and nausea, this is heat exhaustion.

If you encounter this situation, you must quickly cool down the body, stop activities, raise the baby's feet in a cool place, lower the head slightly, replenish water, electrolytes and liquids, and you can also take anti-heat medicines such as Shi Di Shui, Ren Dan, and Huoxiang Zhengqi Pills. If heat stroke occurs, steam cooling method should be used. Sprinkle water evenly on the baby's body and head, blow continuously, wet the towel and place it on the baby's forehead. If the baby's swallowing ability is fine, you can give him cold liquids to replenish water and electrolytes, and take anti-heat medicines such as Shi Di Shui, Ren Dan, and Huoxiang Zhengqi Pills. Generally speaking, after mild heat stroke is treated and restored to normal, you can basically continue to complete subsequent activities; but for severe heat stroke, it is best to withdraw from the activity unless you recover well.


Prevent heat cold

During summer activities, the human body produces heat quickly and the capillaries in the skin expand greatly to help the body dissipate heat. If you are suddenly exposed to excessive cold at this time, the open pores on the surface of your body will suddenly close, causing dysfunction of the internal organs. The brain will be unable to regulate the body's temperature, which will cause a summer cold, which we often call a "heat cold."

During the trip, mother and baby are already sweating profusely. At this time, if you see a mountain spring, stream, pond, etc., you must not jump in immediately to feel the coolness just for the sake of momentary pleasure - you must wait until your body temperature drops before taking a cold shower. Before the body cools down at the end of the trip, if there is air conditioning, mothers must remind their babies not to blow the air conditioner towards their bodies. It is best to use natural wind to cool the body, and then turn on the air conditioner after the body temperature drops.

Don't wear wet clothes

During summer activities, people sweat a lot and their clothes are easily soaked by sweat. If you leave your clothes wet after arriving at your destination and rely on your own body temperature to dry them, this is extremely harmful to your body and can easily cause rheumatism or arthritis.

It is recommended that mothers prepare an extra set of dry close-fitting clothes (especially tops) and a coat for their babies, and let their babies change out of wet clothes after arriving at the destination. When taking a break during an activity, if it is windy, make sure your baby put on a coat in time. Otherwise, the body will be exposed to sudden changes in temperature, which can easily cause illness.
