Basketball knee sprain

Basketball knee sprain

Playing basketball is a very dynamic sport. Many boys like to play basketball. However, long-term playing basketball can easily cause damage to the body's joints. It is easy to collide and sprain during playing basketball. The knee joint is relatively fragile. Once damaged, the recovery period is relatively busy. In severe cases, it may affect daily activities. What should I do if I sprain my knee while playing basketball?

First of all, the first step for a sprained knee is to ask a classmate or friend to take you to the nearest hospital for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the knee to determine whether the ligament or meniscus is damaged. During transportation, the injured leg should be fixed and not under any force. The next step can only be taken after the condition is confirmed.

Secondly, if it is a simple sprain or soft tissue contusion, without ligament rupture or meniscus injury, then simple recuperation can be sufficient, just like an ankle sprain, apply ice within 24 hours, hot compress and physical therapy after one or two days. This is the emergency treatment after sprain.

Third, if it is confirmed that there is a ligament contusion, you can temporarily receive conservative treatment, perform physical therapy and massage for a period of time, and then undergo surgical treatment after the situation improves. However, you must not delay it for too long. If it is not treated for a long time, the body's self-healing will cause adhesion of the soft tissue of the knee joint. You may not feel anything now, but you will suffer when you are older.

Fourthly, I would like to introduce a small folk remedy for treating sprains. What we often use now is spraying Yunnan Baiyao or safflower oil, and the effect is also quite good. However, for these difficult-to-heal bruises and sprains, external application of Chinese medicine is very effective. In our hometown, we use pepper branches to boil water, and then use it to treat sprained joints, and the effect is quite good. But be careful not to get burned.

Prevent problems before they happen

Knee injuries are difficult to treat, so preventing knee injuries is particularly important. When exercising, you must pay attention to warm-up exercises to stretch your muscles and bones before exercising. If you feel discomfort in your knees or have had a previous injury, avoid strenuous exercise. Apply ice appropriately after exercise. You should rest for at least 3 months after a knee injury.
