What are the skills of playing tennis?

Tennis is a popular sport nowadays, mainly because it does not consume a lot of physical energy and there are no safety issues, so it is liked by more and more people. So what are the techniques for playing tennis? The first thing is posture. You need to get the posture right. The second thing is some methods. Next, let us learn about the skills of playing tennis. What are the issues we need to pay attention to?

Tennis backhand technique:

1. Ready posture

Facing the net, stand with your feet naturally apart and shoulder-width apart, bend your knees slightly, lean your waist slightly forward, lightly support the racket neck with your non-racquet-holding hand, keep the racket head level with your chin, bend your elbows, and extend the racket comfortably in front of you. Lean your body forward with your center of gravity on your feet. When you judge that the opponent's ball is flying towards your backhand direction, the left hand that lightly holds the racket neck should quickly help the right hand to change the grip to the backhand grip. If you use the Eastern or Western forehand grip for your forehand, you should change to the corresponding backhand grip when issuing the ticket, otherwise the backhand will not be played well. Most people who hold the racket with both hands also need to change their grip.

2. Backswing to lead the ball

Turn your hip toward your left shoulder to swing your right hand to the left and back. Turn your left foot 90 degrees to the left and parallel to the baseline. At the same time, step your right foot forward to the left. Face your left shoulder to the net, tighten your wrist and extend it back. Squeeze your shoulders together and keep your right thumb close to the upper part of your left leg. When swinging back, the elbow joints bend naturally and drop downward, and the center of gravity moves to the rear foot. The backswing on the backhand should be completed earlier than the forehand backswing. When hitting a one-handed backhand, the left hand can lightly support the neck of the racket, accompanied by a coordinated movement of turning to the left; if it is a two-handed backhand swing, a more complete rotation is required, with the right shoulder turning toward the left net post.

3. Forward swing

When you move from the backswing to the forward swing, you should hold the racket tightly, keep your wrist fixed, and make your right foot at a 45-degree angle to the net. Turn your shoulders, torso, and hips, and swing the racket toward the ball. The hitting point of the backhand should be in front of the left side of the body, and the racket and right foot should be in a straight line when hitting the ball. At the moment of hitting the ball, the racket head swings the fastest, aim at the incoming ball and hit it straight, the elbow should be straight, the racket should be level with the hand, and the eyes should be fixed on the ball. As your body weight shifts from your back foot to your front foot. The trajectory of the racket head in a backhand topspin shot is from top to bottom.

4. Follow-through

After the ball is hit, keep the racket face parallel to the net as long as possible. Swing the racket forward in the direction of the ball's flight. The distance the racket moves forward with the ball is less than 60 cm. The center of gravity moves forward and lands on the right foot. The body also turns towards the net. The swing ends above the right shoulder with the racket head pointing upward (this is different for slice shots). Completing the follow-through action well will help control the landing point and direction of the ball. The follow-through should be larger and fuller than the backswing, thus ensuring the completeness and stability of the hitting action. After the follow-through action is completed, the body turns towards the net and quickly returns to the original ready position, ready for the next shot.

For those who like to play tennis, it is necessary to understand the skills of playing tennis. Only by understanding these can we achieve twice the result with half the effort and better promote our tennis playing. In addition, playing tennis pays attention to human coordination. Of course, if your coordination is not very good, don't worry. You will learn to play tennis with slow practice.
