What are the precautions for orienteering?

Although people nowadays are busy with work every day, they also know that they must exercise regularly for their own health. When it comes to orienteering, everyone knows that it is a competitive sport. At the same time, some friends in life also take it as a hobby to exercise their bodies. Everyone knows that there are things to pay attention to when exercising in order to protect your body safety. So, what are the precautions for orienteering?

1. First of all, you must have confidence in yourself, believe that you are the best and can complete the competition well. You must have confidence in yourself. If you feel nervous, uneasy, and have doubts about yourself before the competition, then you are one step away from success. You must have confidence in yourself, especially before you start, you must stay calm and not panic. During the competition, you must fully believe in your own strength, keep a clear head, and complete the competition tasks with your own abilities. Don't follow others along the way. Blindly following others may backfire and fail to truly reflect your true level. You must fully believe in yourself. Of course, following others is also a form of cheating. We should stop doing this and compete based on our own strength.

2. Be serious, careful, and calm during the competition and choose the correct route.

During the competition, sometimes you will run back and forth nearby for a certain target, but you cannot find it for a long time and become flustered. In fact, the more anxious you are, the more confused you will be. At this time, you must remain calm and try to eliminate your irritability. Carefully compare the icons on the picture with the surrounding objects, observe the characteristic objects around, and determine the exact location of the target. Sometimes during a competition, you may miss some points (even if you complete the competition and the results are invalid). If you find them in time and the time you miss is not too big, you should keep calm and try to make up for it so as to complete the competition and get a valid result. Generally there are two methods. One is to take the current location as the target and go back along the route on the map until you reach the desired (missed) target. If the terrain is complex, you must first find landmarks (buildings, etc.) here or nearby. The second is to go directly back to the place where the target was last found and follow the route. When you find the target clock in, be sure to check carefully to see if the light on the clock indicator flashes or beeps. Only remove the finger card after the information has been read. Complete the card insertion and reading in one go to avoid repeating the action and wasting unnecessary time, because the effective score at the finish line is calculated in seconds. Sometimes the time difference between the two people in front and behind is only one or two seconds, or even less. In the competition, you often run while looking at the map to determine the route, because time needs to be saved and route selection is very important. There may be many paths from point A to point B, but there is only one "shortcut" that meets your own conditions, because the choice of the best path requires consideration of many factors (distance, slope, etc.).

5. You must have sufficient physical strength and allocate it reasonably throughout the process.

All the athletes who take part in this competition have relatively good physical strength, which is due to intensive training in normal times. Endurance and cardiopulmonary function are not solely dependent on innate inheritance, but can also be improved through training of acquired factors. A good athlete has plenty of energy, good endurance and speed, and can usually finish a 10,000-meter race easily. That is to say, an orienteering athlete is first and foremost an excellent long-distance runner, but how to perform in the competition and how to allocate his or her energy are worthy of careful study and discussion. Excellent athletes can reasonably allocate their physical energy according to the terrain and judgment during running. For example, when running downhill, they can relax and run with big steps due to inertia, which can save a certain amount of physical energy; when the terrain is flat, they can speed up the pace and frequency appropriately; when sprinting to the finish line, they have to spare no effort and use 100% of their strength.

Regarding the precautions for orienteering, I hope the above content can help you. Because when exercising, you need to pay attention to both the sports techniques and some psychological states, otherwise it will affect the competition results and physical safety, so it is better for everyone to take a good look at it.
