Generally speaking, if the amount of exercise is not too much, you can replenish water immediately, or drink about 100 ml at a time after 5 minutes. Wait at least 10 minutes between each session. It is not advisable to replenish water immediately after strenuous exercise. You can only gargle or swallow no more than 50 ml of water. You should do rest exercises (such as slow walking after a long-distance run) to get the body out of the exercise state. Do not drink a lot of water immediately

Drinking a lot of water after strenuous exercise will reduce the salt content in the blood, making it easier to have muscle cramps, and even cause headaches, vomiting and other diseases. Moreover, if you drink too much water at one time, your gastrointestinal tract will feel uncomfortable and bloated. If you lie down to rest, the diaphragm will be squeezed, affecting your cardiopulmonary activity. Therefore, after strenuous exercise, no matter how thirsty you are, you should not drink too much water at one time. You should drink water in small amounts multiple times.

Don't stop to rest immediately

If you stop to rest right after strenuous exercise, your brain will experience hypoxia symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and shock due to insufficient blood supply from the heart. Therefore, you should do some relaxation and adjustment activities right after strenuous exercise, such as gradually changing to jogging after long-distance running, walking a few steps, rubbing your legs, taking a few deep breaths, etc. This can slowly stabilize the rapid blood circulation, which is beneficial to the removal of lactic acid in the muscles and the elimination of fatigue.

In fact, after exercise, not only should you not drink water immediately, you should also not take a cold shower, blow dry your hair, or eat immediately. Because when your body is still in an excited state, the most important thing is to relax your body and slowly calm down before you can carry out a series of activities. This will keep your body in the safest state.
