The researchers conducted an experiment on 464 postmenopausal women, all of whom had the following common characteristics: they were overweight or obese; they all had a certain degree of high blood pressure; and they had no habit of fitness exercise before the experiment. They were divided into four groups: the first group still did not exercise and sat for a long time; The second group only performed light exercise for an average of 72 minutes per week; the third group performed moderate exercise for an average of 136 minutes per week; and the fourth group performed intensive exercise for an average of nearly 192 minutes per week. The trial lasted for 6 months. The women in the study exercised at a low intensity, roughly equivalent to walking at a speed of 2 to 3 miles per hour. The researchers measured their peak oxygen consumption (one of the measures of cardiovascular health) before and after the experiment and found that the value increased by 4.2% in the second group, 6% in the third group, and 8.2% in the fourth group, which is good for their cardiovascular health. This experiment tells everyone that if you can't guarantee 150 minutes of fitness exercise a week, you should understand that doing only half of it will also benefit you a lot.
