What is the difference between dumbbell bench press and barbell bench press?

There is a difference between the barbell bench press and the dumbbell bench press. The parts of the body trained are different, and the effects also have different focuses. Friends who want to train their chest muscles can first practice barbell bench press. If the exercise strength is weak, it means that the muscle tissue is relatively poor. You should strengthen the triceps training. In addition, you should also pay attention to balanced nutrition when exercising and eat more protein-rich foods, which will be helpful for the exercise.

The barbell bench press and dumbbell bench press are different!

1. When doing a barbell bench press, the hand grip distance remains unchanged. With the shoulder joint as the axis, the humerus (upper arm) has a limited rotation angle, so the working distance of the pectoralis major is shorter.

2. When doing dumbbell bench press, the movement trajectory of both hands is freer, and the angle of rotation of the upper arm is almost 90 degrees, so the pectoralis major muscle works over a longer distance and the stimulation of the pectoralis major muscle is deeper.

3. Since the dumbbell bench press has a freer trajectory and is more difficult to control, the weight is generally much smaller than that of a barbell press. However, a barbell bench press can increase the weight and stimulate the development of absolute muscle strength.

4. Generally, the pectoralis major exercise is to do the barbell bench press first, and then the dumbbell bench press. If the arms become weak first, it means that the triceps are too weak, or the triceps are relying more on the force. You should strengthen the triceps, or use the pre-fatigue method, and stimulate the chest with single-joint movements first.

The above is the difference between dumbbell bench press and barbell bench press. Depending on the purpose and requirements of the exercise, the emphasis will also vary. Both exercise methods have their advantages and disadvantages. They complement each other and adopt a variety of exercise methods. This way, muscle groups will be more coordinated, the exercise effect will be better, and it will also be beneficial to the health of muscle tissue.
