Can I run when my knees hurt?

Nowadays, knee pain and knee discomfort all day long are common. This symptom not only affects the elderly, but many young people are troubled by knee pain. So, can you run if you have knee pain? In fact, running has nothing to do with knee pain. People think that knee pain will affect running, but this is just a superficial analysis. As long as you can master the proper running method and posture, running can also relieve knee pain symptoms.

Leg lift therapy

Lie flat on your back and lift your legs naturally on the bed, bend one leg (preferably more than 90 degrees) and place it on the bed. Keep the other leg straight, slowly lift it about 10 cm off the bed, hold for about five seconds, slowly put it down, repeat about 20 times, alternating between left and right. It can relieve the symptoms of knee pain and make running easier.

Seated leg raise exercise

Find a stable chair, lean forward slightly, sit in the front half of the chair, hold the chair steady with both hands, bend one leg and stand comfortably on the ground, keep the other leg straight, slowly lift it about 10 cm off the ground, hold for about five seconds, slowly put it down, repeat about 20 times, alternating between left and right.

Ball clamp therapy

Find a football or volleyball (not too big or too small), sit on the bed or floor, hold steady with both hands, bend your knees slightly, and clamp the ball with the inner thighs. Hold for about five seconds each time, slowly relax, and repeat about 20 times. You can place the ball alternately on the upper, middle, and lower inner thighs.

Hot and cold therapy

1. If your knee arthritis pain is in the acute stage, or swelling and fever occur after walking or moving for a long time, you can apply local ice compress and cold therapy appropriately (about 20 minutes each time).

2. If your joint pain is chronic, warm therapy is more likely to be used. We recommend applying local heat to both knees using a hot water bottle.

Can I run if I have knee pain? If we have symptoms of pain and discomfort in our knees, do not ignore it, because after the pain occurs, we must find a way to relieve it. Whether it affects running depends on your pain level and the way you run. I hope everyone can run correctly. If the pain worsens, stop first, take care of it, and then run effectively.
