To prevent breast cancer, we need to combine "movement and stillness"

Breast cancer is a common malignant tumor in women with high morbidity and mortality. In recent years, the incidence of breast cancer in my country has been increasing rapidly at a rate of about 3% per year. In major cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai, it has risen to the first place among female malignant tumors.

Another characteristic of breast cancer in Chinese women is that it tends to occur at a younger age. A breast cancer patient at Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was 16 years old, while a patient at the Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University Medical College was only 15 years old. There are also special cases abroad. In 2009, a 3-year-old girl was diagnosed with breast cancer in Toronto, Canada. The incidence of breast cancer begins to increase in women over 30 years old and reaches a peak age between 40 and 49 years old, 10 to 15 years earlier than in Western women.

Exercise can prevent cancer

"Life lies in movement" has gradually been proven by people, widely accepted, and regarded as a creed.

Studies have shown that if women exercise more during adolescence and early adulthood, their chance of developing breast cancer during perimenopause is 23% lower than those women who are sedentary and inactive. Women with the lowest risk of breast cancer exercise for an average of 3 hours and 15 minutes per week, mainly running. Middle-aged women can reduce the risk of breast cancer by exercising more after menopause. The best time period for women to exercise is between the ages of 12 and 22. Experts recommend that women adopt various exercise methods such as running and walking. If women walk briskly for 30 minutes every day, it will not only help lose weight but also reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Combining movement and stillness, training both mind and body

Traditional Chinese medicine attaches great importance to the important role of exercise in preventing and treating diseases, and opposes inaction. The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine points out: "Prolonged viewing damages the blood, prolonged sitting damages the flesh, and prolonged lying damages the qi." The great ancient medical scientist Hua Tuo created the "Five Animal Exercises" to teach people how to keep fit. Medical practitioners of all dynasties have left behind many fitness exercises, such as Tai Chi, Ba Duan Jin, Ba Gua Quan, and Dao Yin Gong.

Traditional Chinese medicine recognizes the role of exercise in health, but it focuses more on combining movement and stillness, and training both the body and mind. When practicing Tai Chi, the external movements are to regulate the body, while the mental calmness is to regulate the breath and mind, cultivating both the body and mind. Many modern studies have proven that Tai Chi can improve the body's immunity by regulating the body's immune mechanism, while also cultivating temperament. Tai Chi is gentle, light, and elegant, making it very suitable for cancer patients during their recovery period.
