The more they practice, the more irritated they become, and it becomes even harder to enter a state of tranquility. The so-called "entering into tranquility" means changing "random thoughts" into "quiet thoughts" through "concentrating the mind", and then achieving "no thoughts and no imagination", tranquility, happiness and leisure. The so-called "concentration of mind" means concentrating one's attention on a certain part of the body or a certain activity, or imagining something that is beneficial to the body. The most commonly used method of "focusing the mind" is to focus on breathing combined with focusing on the "Dantian".

Dantian refers to the "Qi Hai Point" one and a half inches below the navel. Combining the focus on breathing with the focus on Dantian is called "Qi Guan Dantian". The general method of channeling Qi into Dantian is: perform abdominal breathing. When inhaling, the diaphragm descends, abdominal pressure increases, and the lower abdomen bulges outward, as if Qi is inhaled into Dantian through the lungs; when exhaling, the lower abdomen retracts, as if Qi is out of the lower abdomen through the lungs. This method of channeling Qi into Dantian is the main measure for Qigong to produce good results. It can both strengthen the spleen and connect the heart and kidneys.

Practicing Qigong can help prolong life. Through the practice of Qigong, we can mobilize and exert our body's potential, thus delaying aging. Practicing Qigong can also enhance intelligence, strengthen the body and promote physical and mental health for sick and disabled elderly people.
