Is it good to run in fog?

In recent years, the problem of air pollution has become more and more serious, and many cities have experienced foggy weather. This situation makes it difficult for many people to even go out, especially those who like to run a few laps in the morning. But many times, foggy days cannot stop them from wanting to go out for exercise. So is it good to run in foggy weather? Let’s take a look at it below.

Fog is condensation of water vapor suspended in low altitude near the ground. In the busy suburban areas, these condensations - small water droplets - often contain a variety of harmful chemicals, floating dust, pathogenic microorganisms, etc. from automobile exhaust.

Especially in the case of several consecutive days of heavy fog, due to the weak cold air and no obvious air flow, various pollutants accumulate near the ground. According to the health department's detection, there are a considerable number of F'S (Furley) pathogens in the droplets. It is a multicellular microorganism with the ability to move and infect autonomously. It can cause disease alone or work together with other pathogens to make people sick.

Therefore, it is best not to do morning exercises outdoors in foggy weather, especially on the roadside, and do not perform strenuous exercise in open areas and between buildings, so as to avoid inhaling too many harmful substances and inducing bronchitis, pharyngitis, conjunctivitis, rhinitis, various allergic diseases, cerebral hemorrhage, etc.

In addition, do not do running or other physical exercises on foggy days, because when doing these activities, the body's oxygen consumption increases, and breathing will inevitably become deeper and faster. At this time, because the fog contains more water vapor, it hinders the gas exchange of the alveoli, and causes dizziness and other discomforts due to lack of oxygen in the brain. At the same time, when exercising, the body's heat production increases significantly due to the increased activity of muscles and bones, and sweating is needed to dissipate body heat. However, on foggy days the air humidity is high, sweat is not easy to evaporate, which is not conducive to the heat dissipation of the skin, and will make people feel stuffy and uncomfortable.

Now I know whether it is good to run in foggy weather. On foggy days, the air is always full of dust, bacteria and some substances harmful to the human body, so it is recommended that friends who want to exercise should stay at home and try not to exercise outside. When you really have to go out, remember to wear a mask to protect yourself.
