What causes sweating?

We all know that we sweat a lot after exercising, and we also know that sweating is a good thing, it can excrete some metabolic waste from our body, but have you ever thought about why we sweat, is it because some nerves are stimulated or for some other reason? The following content will tell you the answer.

Mental sweating is caused by mental excitement or pain stimulation, and sweating is mainly seen in three parts of the body: the palms, toes and armpits. When people are nervous, their palms will sweat, which is called psychological sweating. The latency period from stimulation to sweating of psychogenic sweating is extremely short, only a few seconds to 20 seconds. Therefore, under the influence of mental factors such as tension, fear, and excitement, nerve impulses are transmitted from the cerebral cortex to the eccrine glands in the palms, and the concentration of norepinephrine increases, causing the secretion and excretion activities of the eccrine glands to increase rapidly in a short period of time, thus producing mental sweating in the palms. Some scholars also believe that there is another mental sweating center that is often excitable and produces reactive sweating once stimulated. Psychogenic sweating is most obvious on the palms and soles, but can also be seen on the back of the hands, head, face, neck, forearms and calves.

A few people may even sweat profusely all over their body when they are under high mental stress. Among homeothermic animals, goats and rabbits do not sweat, cats and dogs sweat only on the toes, and cows and pigs sweat only on the tip of the nose. These non-sweating animals regulate their body temperature by dissipating heat through shallow breathing. Horses, donkeys and mules sweat almost all over their bodies; all sweat glands except those on the ball of the toes are apocrine glands; gustatory sweating is a physiological phenomenon, such as excessive sweating caused by eating certain irritating foods (chili, garlic, ginger, cocoa, coffee). Exercise-induced sweating is a physiological activity that produces sweat.

So sweating can be divided into many categories. Normally, sweating after exercise is a normal phenomenon, but some sweating is caused by some problems in the body. At this time, we can no longer continue to think that it is normal. We should go to the hospital for treatment immediately so that the body can recover soon.
