Can I drink water after exercise?

Every morning, when you walk into the park, you can see people doing morning exercises everywhere, some doing Tai Chi, some doing aerobics, and many people running. People have fully realized the importance of exercise and can easily take measures to exercise, but they don’t know very clearly about some precautions of exercise. So can you drink water after exercise? How to drink it?

During strenuous exercise, although the amount of sweat will increase rapidly, and due to accelerated and enhanced breathing, the water in the mouth and throat evaporates faster, and the saliva secretion decreases, thus causing the throat mucosa to dry out and causing a feeling of thirst, the body is not necessarily dehydrated. Usually, just gargling with water or drinking a small amount of water will be enough. If you drink a lot of water during strenuous exercise, it will cause your stomach to swell, hinder diaphragm activity and affect your breathing; at the same time, it will also reduce gastric acid concentration and affect digestive function. After strenuous exercise, the body's salt is consumed due to excessive sweating. At this time, drinking a lot of water cannot replenish the salt. Instead, it will reduce the osmotic pressure of the blood, destroy the water and salt metabolism balance in the body, affect the body's normal physiological functions, and even cause muscle cramps. In addition, the heart activity is still very intense after exercise. Drinking a lot of water will increase the amount of circulating blood, thus increasing the burden on the heart.

Many friends have the habit of drinking water after exercise! But there are many things to pay attention to when drinking water. Most people drink a lot of water when they are sweaty after strenuous exercise. Drinking water in this way is extremely harmful to the body from a scientific point of view.

For example, many people like to drink up the mineral water they just took out of the refrigerator. From a scientific point of view, this habit is very harmful to the body. Some people are used to drinking beverages, but some beverages contain a lot of sugar, which greatly affects the quality of training. Some people are accustomed to drinking carbonated drinks, which are not suitable for drinking after exercise! Because the drinks contain a large amount of CO2, improper drinking after exercise can easily cause "lung explosion".

So, what is the correct way to drink water after exercise?

1: It is best to add (0.7%-0.9%) table salt to pure drinking water (mineral water or boiled water) to replenish the salt lost in the body in time.

2. Don’t drink too much water. Rinse your mouth and spit out the first sip of water. After that, every time you take a sip of water, you should rinse your mouth gently for a few seconds before drinking it slowly. Doing this will not only quench your thirst quickly, but also effectively control your water intake! It will effectively avoid the bloating and fatigue you feel after drinking water after exercise.

3: In the absence of saline solution, you can also drink ordinary beverages (avoid carbonated beverages) in the same way as above.

By reading the above text, we can know that we cannot drink a lot of water after strenuous exercise. If we drink a lot of water at this time, it will increase the burden on the heart, and in severe cases, lung explosion may occur. It is best to wait half an hour after the exercise and drink water in small sips. It is best to drink some boiled water and do not replace it with carbonated drinks.
