Generally speaking, overhead movements are used to develop the long head, such as barbell supine flexion and extension, dumbbell behind-the-neck flexion and extension, etc. Pushing movements are generally used to develop the medial head, such as dumbbell flexion and extension, barbell narrow grip press, etc. The lateral head uses pull-down movements, such as push-downs with a puller and arm flexion and extension behind the neck.

How to focus on developing the lateral head of the triceps?

From the perspective of human anatomy, the triceps brachii has a lateral head on the outside of the back of the upper arm, and a long head and medial head on the inside. Among them, the lateral head is the most exposed. Fully developed this part helps to increase the visual width of the upper body and depict the horseshoe effect on the side of the triceps. However, this area is more difficult to participate in the force. Many people experience soreness on the inner side of the triceps after high-intensity training sessions, while the reaction on the outer side is not obvious, so it is known as the laziest side of the triceps.
