1. The straddle high jump is the simplest and easiest to learn high jump technique. The evolution of high jump technique has gone through the following stages: straddle, scissors, roll, prone and flop. No matter which jumping method is used, it must go through four stages: running up, taking off, flying and landing. The take-off angle of the straddle jump is 30-45 degrees, the take-off route is a straight line, and the step point can start the reverse run-up from the take-off point. The starting point for the straddle high jump is 30 cm outside the horizontal bar. The running direction is at a 45-degree angle to the horizontal bar.

First, determine the take-off point about 30 cm outside the middle of the horizontal bar. Then, run 7-8 steps and jump hard. The point is the take-off point. Then jump a few times. If the take-off point is too close, move the take-off point backward by the corresponding distance. If the take-off point is too far, move it forward by the corresponding distance. Through repeated practice, you will find the pace that suits you.

2. The pole-crossing techniques include straddling, scissors, rolling, prone, and back-over. Due to different technical types, athletes have different methods of completing the run-up, take-off, pole crossing and landing. The running-up allows the human body to generate forward speed, increase the supporting reaction force during take-off and speed up the take-off action. The Flop high jump uses an arc-shaped run-up, with a long distance, fast speed and natural movements. Other postures generally use a straight-line run-up with a short distance, slower speed, and a low center of gravity. Taking off is when the human body quickly changes its direction of movement after the run-up and rises up to prepare for passing the bar. When taking off from the flop, stride, or scissors high jump, the take-off leg is on the side away from the horizontal bar. In prone and rolling high jumps, the take-off leg is on the side closer to the bar. The floppy pose is performed with bent legs, while the other poses are generally performed with straight legs. When doing a backflip over the bar, the body turns from facing the bar sideways to facing away from it, and then passes over the bar with the arms, head, and shoulders in that order; the hips are fully extended on the bar into a back-lying and arched position. After your body passes the bar, tighten your abdomen and lift your legs, then fall on the sponge bag with your back.

All of us high jumpers must master the scissors-style high jump method in order to more effectively improve our high jump height, which will also be very helpful for us in future competitions. At the same time, the most fundamental thing is that we need to increase physical training and enhance our physical fitness in order to effectively improve our high jump level.
