The easiest way is to measure the frequency of the radial artery pulsation in your wrist yourself, which is generally consistent with the heart rate. Before exercising, measure your own venous pulse for 15 seconds and multiply it by 4 to know your venous pulse/minute.

Then start aerobic exercise for 20 minutes. Immediately after the exercise, measure the number of pulse beats in 15 seconds, and then multiply it by 4. You can use this to infer the pulse rate per minute during the exercise.

If your pulse rate is around 170-your age, then this exercise is within your aerobic metabolic intensity range. Both safe and effective.
