What are the joint movements?

In fact, the joints are actually very susceptible to some diseases. Therefore, in order to better prevent yourself from being affected and injured by some joint diseases, you should also pay attention to the movement of the joints in your daily life. Appropriate and scientific exercise has a good effect on relieving diseases. The following is a detailed introduction to the exercises that are more suitable for joints.

The movement form of the joint is related to the morphological structure of the joint. Every movement takes place in a certain basic plane around a certain axis of movement. The basic movements of joints include flexion and extension, abduction and adduction, rotation, circumduction and horizontal flexion and extension.

(1) Flexion and extension: Movement of the motor link around the frontal axis in the sagittal plane. Generally speaking, forward movement is flexion and backward movement is extension. But the opposite is true for the knee joint and the joints below.

(2) Abduction and adduction: Movement of the motor link around the sagittal axis in the frontal plane. When the end of the motor segment moves away from the median plane, it is called abduction; when it moves toward the median plane of the body, it is called adduction.

(3) Rotation: The movement of a moving part around its own vertical axis in the horizontal plane. Rotation from front to back is called internal rotation (or pronation), and rotation from front to back is called external rotation (or supination).

(4) Circumduction: The moving segment makes continuous circular motion around the frontal axis, sagittal axis, and the intermediate axis between them, with the proximal end as the fulcrum. This motion can be described as the motion of a cone, so it is also called cone motion. For example, the upper limbs make forward or backward circular motions at the shoulder joint.

(5) Horizontal flexion and extension: The movement of the movement link in the horizontal plane around the vertical axis is a form of movement in sports, which is rarely seen in life. For example, if the upper limb (or lower limb) is abducted 90 degrees at the shoulder joint (or hip joint) and then moves forward, it is called horizontal flexion. If it moves backward, it is called horizontal extension.

Paying attention to these joint exercises in daily life can bring good results in preventing and solving some joint diseases, and can also treat the occurrence of some joint diseases as much as possible. Therefore, everyone should pay more attention to the understanding of these common sense in daily life to help themselves reduce more adverse injuries caused by it.
